    DEDICATION

I dedicate this book to God The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I show my appreciation and gratitude to the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient God, Who created the heavens and earth in six literal days and rested on the seventh day. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, I have documented these testimonies, resting my assurance on the authenticity of Genesis 18:14; Jeremiah 32:17, 27; Matthew 19:26; John 15:5; Philippians 4:13.

The Almighty God owns us by creation and redemption, so to Him, praise, glory, adoration, and honor are ascribed. I thank all the authors of the Holy Bible I quoted from, such as the New International Version (NIV), King James Version (KJV), and New King James Version (NKJV).

A big thank you goes to my darling husband, Mr. Israel Amah, for assisting me and giving me the needed backup. My acknowledgments go to my darling senior brother, Dr. Michael Ebipa Ebifegha, who through God’s grace was instrumental in directing my upbringing and in ensuring that I discovered my Maker, till I found Him. The love and trust I have in Michael have made me the little Christian I am. I thank God for his patience and encouragement to document these books. I also thank his darling wife, Margaret Uga Ebiere Ebifegha, and three daughters, Tari, Nkere-Awaji, and Ebitimi, for being supportive in the perusing and re-typing of these documents.

I greatly appreciate my children—Mrs. Vivian A. Adeosun, Mrs. Tammy Longe, and Mrs. Awajima Queen Mbuluko, —together with their husbands, Mr. Victor Israel Amah and John Kucheti, whose support saw me through the work. Mr. Freedom Ebikake Agbogidi, I thank you. You are a wonderful brother to me.

I will not forget to extend my hand of fellowship to those who facilitated the task of perusing this work for final publishing, such as Rev. Prof. C. M Sorgwe and Associate Prof. Bina Odogu of the Department of History and Diplomacy at Niger Delta University for their scholarly support; Dr. Chief Ebikitin, who has held several positions at one time or another in Bayelsa State; Elder Emmanuel Manilla, Treasurer, Eastern Nigerian Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, who discovered the little talent in me and gave me a push by giving me a book on how to go about writing; my typists, Miss Catherine Tochukwu Okwu and Adam Smith Tarabina; Barrister Kemka Gbasam for his relentless support, and Doctor Junior Ojum, whose first two books as a youth inspired me to enter the world of writing.

I tender my profound gratitude to Engr. Benaiah Ojum for accepting the role of chairperson in the launching of this book. The Explorers in Diaspora and many others too numerous to mention, your support in various ways is warmly acknowledged. God bless you all!.

My final appreciations go to ProofreadingPal for their editorial services, and to my publisher, Urlink Print & Media, for the conscientious and excellent work performed with short notice.

    God bless all of you.

    PREFACE

    Peo

ple’s perceptions of the physical and spiritual dimensions of life have been further mystified in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. How could one have imagined a virus that is invisible to the naked eye could force governments to close their borders, impose travel restrictions, and modify the way people learn and interact? Our wellbeing and freedom are, therefore, not guaranteed! Amidst our vulnerability, despair and limitations, the God in the Bible, who is immutable and fills heaven and earth, asserts in Jeremiah 32:27, I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? (New International Version). For those engaged in a personal relationship with God, the response is no.; For others, the answer is either silence or we are not sure. To convince or constantly remind the public of God’s steadfastness, the onus is on those who say no to always provide evidence or testimonies of divine interventions that have occurred in their lives. This is the reason for this book.

There are two parts. Part 1 provides testimonies about times when God intervened in my life when I was encountering perilous and awkward situations. I realized that obedience to God, fervent prayers, and trust in His promises are the key virtues that govern cordial relationship with God. Part 2 explains how people should expediently respond to controversial issues that affect their livelihoods or challenge their relationship with God. I support my views or experiences by providing numerous quotations from the Holy Scriptures to affirm the truth that the God of the Old and New Testament, who personally and publicly claimed credit for having created the world and establishing the Sabbath Day as a memorial of creation, is the God of the contemporary world.

    PART 1

Personal Testimonies of Divine Interventions in Contemporary Times

    INTRODUCTION

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. (Psalm 105:1, NIV)

The Bible-based testimonies are here to encourage children of God to put their trust in God no matter the challenges of life. God never fails in His promises.

The power of testimony is evident in the scriptures. King David was described as a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22) because he (1) recognized God’s presence and deeds in the world (Psalm 30:1-3, 20; 66:1-7;139:14), (2) testified about God’s greatness (Psalm 9:1-2; 30:19; 104:1; 105:1-5; 111:1-2; 135:5; 145:3; 150:1-2) and (3) wholeheartedly trusted in God’s faithfulness (Psalm 27:1; 31:6; 117:1-2; 125:1-2; 138:2; 145:13). David as a boy fulfilled all of these virtues prior to and during his fight against Goliath, the gigantic Philistine champion from Gath.

King Saul knew that David was not trained or equipped to fight Goliath. David relied on testimonies of what God had accomplished in his life as proof of his eligibility to fight Goliath.

David said to Saul, Let no one lose, heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him. Saul replied, You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth. But David said to Saul, Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with you. (1 Samuel 17:32-37, NIV)

On the battlefield, David exalted the almighty God above all, and based on his trust in God’s faithfulness, he boldly testified of his victory over Goliath, which he maintained would happen without the use of a sword, spear, and javelin, as proof of God’s power in action to the rest of the world. So, David’s weapons were his testimony and trust in God’s guidance in his application of a sling and stone mechanism. The details of his encounter with Goliath are reported in 1Samuel 17:38-50 as follows:

Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around because he was not used to them. I cannot go in these, he said to Saul, Because I am not used to them. So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag, and with his
