If all these are your quests, then this book is for you!

In this book, the author discusses the subject of emotions in depth. The topics covered include what emotions are, how they arise and how to use the power of choice and the Word of God to change negative emotions into positive ones. There are fourteen negative emotions explored, including major emotions like fear, rejection and depression. Winning the Battle Over Negative Emotions also reveals many thoughts from the Word of God that deal with these feelings.

This work teaches the art of mindfulness regarding your thoughts and emotions as well as the art of meditation as an instruction from Joshua 1:8.

Many praises and thanks to God almighty, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. All glory belongs to you! It was after experiencing many spiritual battles that had left me with negative emotions that the Lord led me to materials that opened my eyes to the reality of the soul man, and subsequently to the writing of this material. My eyes were opened to the power that is in the word of God to pull down strongholds which are bases of negative emotions. I thank God for giving us His word!! It is a treasure indeed!!

Many thanks go to the authors of the following materials:

    1. The battlefield of the mind (by Joyce Meyer)

    2. Power thoughts (by Joyce Meyer)

    3. Switch on your brain (by Dr Caroline Leaf)

    4. When power meet potential (by T D Jakes)

    5. 100 days of right believing (by Joseph Prince)

    6. The Reality of Christ in you (by Creflo Dollar)

God used these books to deepen my understanding of the subject of the soul.

Special thanks to my husband, Apostle Musa Madlala, and my three daughters, Nqobile, Nolwazi (Gift) and Phumelele. My appreciation also goes to my mum (Mrs N E Shiba. La-Nhlapo, Sgegede!) and in a like manner to all my siblings. You guys rock! I thank God for allowing you to be part of my life. You are a blessing to me and the rest of the world.

    Introduction

Have you ever wondered about your emotions? Why do I feel the way am feeling? What must I do to get rid of these feelings? I have prayed, I have fasted but I still feel this negative emotion.

Well, the subject of feelings or emotions is a very interesting and important one. Often the priority in the world is that of the physical man and physical things. Mankind aspires to accumulate and to possess much of the physical. To satisfy the needs of the physical man and to make sure he is well taken care of. In the church on the other hand the major concentration is on the spirit man and spiritual things. It is common in a church environment to use clichés when one experiences an adverse situation: Just pray or be strong or have faith, my brother or sister. These statements are given instead of exploring the impact of a situation on the emotions or the soul of an individual. While these clichés are often true and can be good advice, they have their place. It is sometimes also important to explore and be aware of how the situation has affected the individual on an emotional level. So that when the prayer is made, one understands the extent and the nature of the attack, and how the devil had aimed to disarm the individual. Because the truth is, most of the time the strategy used by the devil is to bring adverse situations so that certain emotions can be triggered which may lead the individual to behave in a certain way. For example, most of the time negative situations tend to trigger negative emotions which eventually leads to negative actions.

If you are not convinced about what has just been said, pause and think of the following accounts from the Bible:

Right in the beginning, we found Eve eating a fruit (behaviour against God’s command) out of the emotion of lust. Genesis 3:6 – When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desiring for gaining wisdom [lust], she took some and ate it [behaviour].

Cain killed (behaviour against God’s nature) his brother out of the emotions of envy and anger. Genesis 4:5 – But Cain and his offering he did not look with favour [situation].
