Any good work, whether through the Pastorate, educational position, or the publishing of a book requires that God receive all the praise and glory! His educational background includes B.Sc. in Business, M.Ed. in Instructional Technology, and a D.Min. in Religious Ed. ALL for God's Glory! His wife is a teacher at a local Christian School. She has an earned A.A.S. and C.D.A. in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelors in Early Childhood Ed, Interdisciplinary. Don plans to publish several more books, as the Lord allows. The topics will include divorce, the decline of the church, relationships in the church, and an educational book covering homework and a disabled child.

    Introduction

    Learning is the main purpose of Instructional Design (ID). Learning is described as assimilation rather than accommodation (West, 1991, p. 14). Some describe it as a change in behavior. An Instructional Design is used to help learners acquire new knowledge and skills. Instructional Design is a widely used system of creating instruction material for instructors and teachers. Instructional Design may be defined as a systematic approach to instructional planning that typically involves a project team analyzing a problem situation, exploring alternative performance support or instructional solutions, and then planning, implementing, evaluating, and managing solutions (Spector, et. al. 2002) ID helps the designer to plan what kind of cognitive strategies will be used (West, 1991, p. 22).

    The ‘Effective Homework Strategies’ is designed to teach parents of students with learning disabilities how to get the most from their child’s homework with limited stress.  Homework is an everyday event during the school years. For students with learning disabilities, homework can be a huge stress. Van Voorhis (1996), found that students that had parental involvement with homework, did more and did better on their report cards. Parents will learn the best methods to encourage their children with learning disabilities through their homework.  It is important to realize the value of homework and to learn the school policy concerning homework. This ID will give parents the ability to approach homework with confidence and with the support of the teachers. It will also help parents learn how to speak to their child and their child’s teacher. They will learn how much is too much and how much are not enough.
