udy Powell has always been a lover of learning, starting the first grade at the age of two years and eight months* and checking out her first chapter book from the library by the age of five ('Ramona The Pest' by Beverly Cleary). By age nine, she had passed nine subjects in the then recognized high school certicate exams. Judy's favorite hobby is reading. She loves to learn and is forever reading and studying, regardless of the subject - which is why she has multiple master's degrees and has done graduate studies in various fields: from business to foreign languages to the Humanities (English Literature) to Creative Writing to Clinical Psychology. Judy loves to share her knowledge and so she invites you to come on this journey with her - as she says, "Let's study our way to success!" * Judy's mom, a second grade teacher, had no babysitter for her toddler so the teacher down the hall, the first grade teacher, took Judy into her class and let her attend there for three years. She was not allowed to move to the second grade until she turned six. Being immersed in learning from such an early age, Nno wonder she loves to study!

INTRODUCTION
his morning, I almost broke my neck, going down the stairs - an occurrence too common to be considered news. The week when I couldn’t use my right arm, to be on the safe side, I slid down the stairs on my bum the whole time.
If you’re like me, with a disability, you get used to the struggle of having poor mobility and terrible balance. For me, it's real work, going up and down those stairs. Some would consider this situation a cause for deep depression. When it comes to suffering from depression, there are many with disabilities who actually do. For me, though, I have found tried and true ways to find happiness, despite the challenges.
How do I do it? Start reading. This is where I tell you about my tips and tricks for staying happy. Now, enough about me. This is all about you.
Are you happy? I'm going to guess, not so much. Or, if you are, you wouldn't mind being somewhat happier than you already are. Well, whatever your situation, I’m here to help. In this little book, you will find lots of tips and tricks on how to be happy.
The best way to make good use of this book is to read it through and, if you're reading the print version, have a pencil in hand. As you read through the tips on how to be happy, check off those tips that resonate with you. For those reading the e-book, you can highlight the ones that connect, and for audiobook readers, you can have a little notebook near- by, where you can scribble. After you've gone through the entire book, you can then go back and reread the tips you've checked off. Let them sink in. Let them be your guide to getting to that goal of finding true happiness, long and lasting, good as gold.
We all want to be happy, don't we? I'm sure everyone will agree on that point. The sad fact, though, is that, around the world, too large a proportion of the population is silently suffering from sadness. Approximately 14 % of the population of Paris, France suffers from depression, that serious condition that makes life difficult for so many people. And this situ- ation is not unique to one region of the world. On the contrary, the situation is even more serious in countries like Brazil and Chile where depression rates in the major cities of Rio de Janeiro and Santiago are reported to be as high as 16% and 30% respectively ( Journal of Clinical Psychology, 2001).
But let's not linger on the negatives. All that information was basically a background to the sadness situation, some insight into where the world is, with regard to the story of sadness.
Despite the numbers, don't be discouraged. Each person's situation is unique. Each sister has her own story; each chap has his own challenge.
The key question is, how to deal with your individual unhappiness. Herein lies the purpose of this publication. With this work, I will light the spark of your creativity. I've created for you a treasure trove of tips and tricks to get you to that place where you want to be.
Separated into sections so that they’re easy to find and follow, these happiness hacks are a compact collection com- piled just for you and your unique situation. Just flip through to the section that satisfies your situation and be inspired by ideas for proactive problemsolving plans.
So, start reading these tips and tricks. Get going toward your goal of lasting happiness.

Don't just read them, select your special section, implement the tips, and see how soon you can succeed in finding that sought-after happiness. You can be happy tomorrow, not by sitting back and wallowing in a pool of self-pity, but by studying your options and taking action today.
NB: Please don't expect that this is like so many other books on the subject of happiness - studies presented by psy- chologists, therapists and counselors approaching things from a formal, clinical point of view. This collection of tips and tricks is quite different. It’s as personal as it gets. Much of it is based on my own experiences, illustrations which are glimpses into my life, as I share what has worked for me. I have also included tips and tricks that have worked for others.
Come on, take this journey with me. May you come away excited, exhilarated and ready to take on the world. I wish for you a happy future filled with self-love, self-esteem and self-satisfaction.
I plan on having a good life going forward and I wish this same for you. much love to you!

Give Thanks
There's always a reason to give thanks. That's my belief and that's why, when asked how things are, I often begin my response with the words,
