About this ebook

"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up" (Psalm 27:10 KJV).

Abandoned by my father when my mother was pregnant with me, I was reunited with him at two years old. But by the time I had gotten to know him, he had taken off once again, never to return. I searched for him relentlessly, but to no avail. My heart

    Acknowledgments

I am grateful to God, my heavenly Father, for the gift He gave me to put pen to paper and write this book. I could not get this work started until He showed me how, and as I prayed, I declared His sovereignty over every area of my life and entrusted myself to Him to be used by Him. It was of utmost importance that I humbled myself before Him and allowed myself to be instructed to complete this work.

To Him I give all the glory.

To Bishop Doctor Fedlyn Beason, my friend, whose words of encouragement have impacted my life in ways that allow me to exercise my God-given talent. Thank you, sir, for Word for You Today, the daily word that have brought such strength and guidance to me as I read them. God richly bless you!

To Pastor Matthew Patterson. Thank you for your obedience to the Holy Spirit, who instructed you to deliver the message of confirmation to me to write this book. I have not neglected the purpose for which I have been instructed ever since that Sunday you handed me the note. With humility I aspire to fulfill my obligation as commissioned and as led by His hand. God richly bless you!

To my sister Patricia Hall. I had you in mind especially because we both shared so much, with the abandonment of the man who was supposed to have been there for us. I know what you have gone through and are still going through, but I pray that you will find comfort in reading this book. I love you so very dearly.

To my brother Elvis Britton, the only male child of our father. I know the pain that you also have encountered. I can still hear it in your voice every time we talk over the phone, even though you’re grown, but I pray that you will find comfort as you read this book. Keep courage, my brother. I love you too.

To my sister Dawnett Britton, who passed away in 1993. Though you’re no longer here with me, my memory of you has not faded because I see you through the eyes of your three beautiful children Althea, Nicholas, and Roseina, whom I love so very dearly.

To my sister Marjorie Binns. Thank you for the role you played as a mother, caring for me while Mama worked her behind off to put food on the table for us all. I love you so very much.

To my sister Elsa White. I respectfully acknowledge you for the heartfelt commitment you made in allowing our mother to immigrate to America. I am obliged to have been a recipient of such a blessing, for I was given the opportunity to experience a life that was far better than what I had before. I love you dearly!

To my eldest brother, Leroy Laird, who passed away in 1998. I cherished the time we had together while growing up. I only wish you were alive to witness my accomplishments.

To my husband, Leslie, my children and grandchildren, my daughters-in-law, my sister-in-law Icilda Simon: thank you all for putting up with me during my years of misery. Your love and support meant a lot. God richly bless you.

Finally, to my mother, Clara Georgia Robinson (Chambers), who passed away in 2003 of cancer at the age of seventy-one. Despite the struggles that she went through, she taught me discipline, which contributed to my growth it helped me in raising my own children. I wish that she was here to also witness my accomplishment. I know she would be so proud of me.

    Foreword

I saw a surreal anointing being placed on you. It is an anointing for you to write in a unique way about the heart of the Father. When He placed the anointing on you, you began to shine very brightly with His glory. I saw you writing books and publishers coming and publishing the books, the books traveling all over the world and you continuing to sit with the Father in heaven, in the throne room, writing what you hear the Father speak. In the writing you’re going to see new areas of His character, new depths of His love, new definitions of His name. The prophetic gifts will increase, and you will hear the Father’s words over a person, and you’ll be able to communicate that to people. The pen you’re writing with in the spirit realm is like a dove and Rose of Sharon flower. A beautiful fragrance comes each time you write.

    — Pastor Matthew Patterson

    Preface

The household that I was raised in was very strange. There were lots of children around, but there wasn’t a man in the home. Mama was the only parent and she was always working. I would watch her as she got up early in the morning to prepare breakfast for us on the wood-burning stove, after which she would leave for work and return very late in the evening. At times she would get home so late that the next-door neighbor would feed us dinner and make sure we got in bed before Mama came home. When I did get the chance to see her during the day, sometimes she looked like a stranger to me, I saw her so rarely. Mama worked as a cook in a school for the blind on weekdays, and on weekends she cleaned houses. Somehow she would still find the time to make guava jelly and sell it to help pay the bills.

This, however, would not have been possible without the help of my sister Marjorie, who cut up the guava while Mama was at work. Despite the absence of a father in the home, Mama tried her best to make sure that her children didn’t lack for food, or anything else for that matter, if it was within her budget.

It seemed odd at times not having a male figure around, and it made me question where my father was. Although I was young, my little mind wondered, and I was curious to see my father and know what he looked like.

When I was two or three years old, I remember a man with curly hair showing up at the house. I wasn’t sure who he was, but when I
