    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Much effort went into protecting the identities and maintaining the privacy of the individuals involved in these stories. Unless the individual identifies themselves, no one will know who they are. But I do and God does. Without Him and them, this book would not have been possible. Your stories will speak into the lives of countless others as they have my own. May fruit be credited to your (eternal) account as a result (Philippians 4:17). All praise, glory and honor be to Him!!!

    Conclusion

To my mother at her request and for my father who have both supported me as I have sought first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). For my sister whose example has spoken louder than words. And for my grandmother, Mary Virginia, who prayed me in.

    Introduction

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ and write for the same reason the disciples of Jesus in the Bible did, That you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20:31).

Until God revealed it to me, I hadn’t understood that the Bible is a collection of stories about how God interacts with man. The authors, all having the same Spirit, just wrote down what happened and shared what Jesus was teaching or saying to them as have I, testifying to the tangible evidence of His existence. These stories are proof that He is alive and is still working among us.

In 2017, after working the same job for nine years, I was called to leave my job and follow Jesus. This move makes no sense apart from Him. I have no other support. It’s costing me something but it’s worth it for more of Him.

He did this with His disciples in the New Testament. When Jesus called them, Peter and Andrew immediately left their nets and followed Him (Matthew 4:19-20). When Jesus called Levi the tax collector, he left all, rose up, and followed Him (Luke 5:27-28). Please note, they didn’t just decide to do this of their own will. Jesus called them. They were being obedient to His leading.

At the end of 2019, He told me to publish His works, which is another reason I write: to obey. These are only a few of the many stories He has given me. I now understand why it is written, There are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25).

These stories are the testimonies of God. Testimonies are powerful and build faith, which is why the Word of God is full of them. He is in these stories. They are His works and His works are the hearts of the people in these stories, including my own. Without Him leading me, they wouldn’t have happened. He is very much alive and still writing stories. The question is, will you let Him write yours? All praise, glory and honor be to Him!!!

    My Testimony

There was a day when I had an encounter with God. I was tired of life the world’s way. I had grown up going to church. I’d been saved and water baptized at six years old but had drifted far, far away. I was lost for twenty-one long years.

I was watching a reality tv show. As I did, I realized that I didn’t want to watch everybody else live their lives. I wanted to live mine. I just didn’t know how. I didn’t understand what my purpose was in life. I turned off the tv and walked onto the back deck of the house. I fell on my knees and cried out, There’s got to be more to life than this. Then I started to bawl.

At that moment, a white dove came and landed on the rail of the deck. I’m not sure how long it was there, but I cried for a really long time. When I got done, I looked up and realized that the dove was still there. My next thought was no one is going to believe this story. I got up and went towards the dove because it was beside my door.

I went inside, got my camera and came back outside. That dove was still there! Birds normally fly at the slightest movement—but not this one. I took several pictures of this dove. It was like God was saying to me, Kimberly, I’ve got you right here in the palm of my hand and I’m not going anywhere.

In the Bible, the dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit. While He [Jesus] prayed the heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove (Luke 3:21-22). Jesus had answered my heart’s cry, or prayer, in that moment. I didn’t even know what I needed—but  He did.

I had known there was a Holy Spirit but didn’t understand His role in my life. There seemed to be a disconnect between the people who called themselves Christians and the Bible I had read. What God showed me is that I had been trying to do His work without the power of the Holy Spirit. I didn’t know we were supposed to interact with Him or hear His voice. I didn’t know there are many gifts that He wants to give us, in addition to salvation, that enable us to overcome the powers of darkness in ourselves and in our lives.

In my time away from God, I met my first Satanist in the grocery store where I worked. I hadn’t known that people worshipped the devil and prayed to him. That when they did, they were invoking supernatural power from the dark side to work in their lives, because he too answers prayer.

I knew evil existed but hadn’t really believed that the devil was real. Now I know that he is, and the only way to fight him and his demons is
