Joy Quest - Ashley J Spurgeon

    Welcome

I am excited about creating this book because so much is changing in the world right now. I began this book as a personal daily journey, and it is one I love. I was seeking to find the best version of who I am and to live that fully.

I developed this book to be a life companion. You can read straight through from the front to back, or you can jump around to topics that feel right to you now. I recommend starting at the beginning and working your way through initially because of the framework it builds. But it does not have to read that way. Do what feels good for you.

Joy Quest is a book of motivation to be the best version of yourself, to expand, and to create the life you have dreamed of. This book is easy to throw in a purse or backpack to take with you on your journey.

You can read through the whole book in a couple of sittings, but that is not the intention. I suggest reading one passage a day, contemplating it, thinking about it, and implementing the book's ideas.

Go ahead and permit yourself to be happy.

    Happiness is a choice.

You will hear me refer to that quote often. I have used it throughout my life. I believe in this.

Let us take the Joy Quest together. We are looking for a new way to live, one that feels exceptionally good, and we will do it together.

    Love and Blessing,

    Ashley J. Spurgeon

    What is a Joy Quest?

Do you remember when you were young? You would go to a family picnic, the beach, or a playground and find the nearest group of kids and play. You, as a group, would create games, laugh, and not have any worry. It did not matter who they were, what social standing, religious background, or race they were. Just the fact that they were kids like you were enough. The only goal was to get out and have fun.

Do you remember that feeling? The feelings of freedom, joy, fun, and unabandon.

Don't you miss that? I have a meme that I love to post from time to time, that says:

If you need me, I will be in my blanket fort coloring.

Sometimes being an adult can be hard. We experience worry responsibility, and even guilt. As we get older, we have trained our thoughts and beliefs on how we should think, act, and believe based on others' expectations, parents, teachers, religion, government, and even our bosses.

Living like this isn't very clear because everyone has different thoughts, beliefs, and expectations. It is confusing because people are not consistent in the message they send. Trying to keep everyone else happy and meeting the changing needs of others will spread you thin.

You feel you have been in a tug-of-war between so many people or groups or ideas. You begin to feel like a cork bobbing in a stormy ocean with no clear direction of your own. You do not feel good anymore. You feel bad because you have let down the crazy expectations of many. You have been busy worrying over what everyone else thinks so that you have lost track of what you think, how you should feel, or even what you (yourself) believe to be true for you.

Joy Quest is about reclaiming who you are and who you wish to be.

Joy Quest is about realigning with what you think, feel, believe, and feel clear about it.

Joy Quest is about creating, manifesting the life of happiness, ease, and excitement that you desire.

Joy Quest is feeling comfortable in your own skin, knowing what you want, and enjoying the journey of getting there.

A quest is open-ended. You have not set an ending destination. A quest is a path of discovery where your direction will change slightly with new information discovered.

A quest is a spiritual journey of awakening and alignment with you really are. A quest is a discovery of purpose and passion.

Joy Quest is a starting point. Here we discover the direction you wish to go. We begin to walk the path that leads to the stream that flows to your desires—the path of least resistance.

Joy Quest is a personal expedition. No one else can tell you which way to go. This path is a discovery by you and for you. What you want and what makes you happy is quite different than what I want and what makes me happy.

The principles and processes along the way are the same, though. The quest looks at what holds us back. We look at things that block our path and limiting beliefs we can drop from our thinking.

Joy Quest will allow us to change our perspective; how we look at things. We will learn to react consciously instead of letting life happen to us.

Did you ever have that feeling, when responsibilities got so heavy, life became exhausting, that you just wanted to go somewhere, close out the world, and only do what you want for a few days? All you want is to chill out, read a good book, watch some movies, soak in a tub, or swim in the ocean. You yearn for whatever your private fantasy is. Let us create that expectation of ease, relaxation, and joy in everyday life.

I have created a format of 60-days of small excerpts, motivations, processes, and ideas in a small handy book that will fit in your purse or backpack. You can take it with you, so you have something to turn to when you need a reminder to slow down, readjust when you need a reminder to tap into joy when you need to realign your thinking and feelings.

Remember, this is fun, this is light, yet this can completely change your life. We are permitting ourselves to enjoy the lives we have. Have fun with this. Together let us laugh and play with full unabandon.

Life is meant to be fun!

    About Your Joy Quest

Joy Quest is separated into three parts: spiritual, emotional, and manifesting. I have written it this way with a purpose. Our goal is to find joy as a sustained feeling in our life, not just a few minutes here and a few minutes there. Joy can be the underlying theme throughout, where other emotions are what come and go.

We begin with the spiritual to gain a stronger connection to who we fully are. We often think of our spirit as something residing within our physical bodies that animate us or even primarily lay dormant until we have a moving spiritual experience, or worse yet, has no purpose until we die.

Our Divine Spirit is so much more. It is our guidance, how God, the Universe, communicate with us. It seeks to lead us to all we ask for and desire. It is our intuition, inspirations, and chance opportunities. Our spirit is not physical; it is vibrational energy. The spiritual connection is the first section because it is important to reacquaint ourselves. When we are once again aligned as our whole self, working in concert with spirit, we are on the path to a life we are meant to live. Living with a spiritual connection is when we step onto our road to find our passion and purpose.

You are one thing only. You are a Divine Being. An all-powerful creator. You are Divinity in jeans and a t-shirt, and within you dwells the infinite wisdom of the ages and the sacred creative force of all that is, will be , or ever was.

Antony St. Maarten (Divine Living: The Essential Guide to Your True Divinity)

Talking about emotions is the second section. We learn to understand them, work with them, and respect the proper place they have in our lives. Instead of letting our emotions have free reign, living from situation to circumstance seems outside our control. Instead of the world around us dictating how we feel or just reacting to life, we can pre-pave the way we want to feel.

Most of us were well trained by our environment how to feel about things. Living by external expectations is confusing because trying to please everyone or act a certain way to feel better will leave us spread too thin. What others need and expect can change from moment to moment.

We learn to regulate better how we think and thus how we feel. We take back control of ourselves and our emotional, thinking life. When we take care of ourselves first, we have more clarity, balance and find ourselves in a more joy-filled life. Now, we are better able to be there for others, without them throwing us off course.

We learn to allow others their path. We are no longer feeling guilty about how others feel. We do not have to be responsible for the emotional stability of all of those around us—just ourselves. We could go crazy trying to regulate and behave in particular ways to keep everyone around us happy. When we are connected to our Divine Spirit and live in the higher vibration of joy and clarity, those around us will find more peace and happiness. Their spiritual vibration will begin to rise or calibrate to ours. We are all vibrational energy: everyone and everything. We can unconsciously lower to theirs, or they can raise to our consciously chosen higher vibration.

The third section is manifesting. We are creative beings. We are one with the Creator. Manifesting is something we are always doing. It is not just creating in your life what you want: a lot of money, a dream house or car, a relationship, career, or health.

Manifesting is recognizing that you are always creating things and situations in your life. Here we are learning to do this by choice and not just reacting to everything happening around you. We learn to be deliberate in our creation and to be intentional throughout our days.

I have written in this specific order to lay a foundation to build on. I know when I first discovered The Laws of Attraction, I would jump to any topic on manifesting lots of money. I am sure several of you skimmed the table of contents and jumped right to what you most want. I know I did. In this Joy Quest, I have asked for your time and attention for sixty days. I ask with a purpose. I know it is challenging to hold someone's attention even thirty days. The sixty are important.

The first five to ten days are reintroducing you to your spiritual self. It is important to live fully. You cannot if you are closed off from the larger part of who you are. Your creative, eternal, infinitely intelligent part of who you are. Through quiet mediation, you reintroduce yourself, raise your vibration, and reestablish your ability to be connected to the guidance and intuition readily available to you.

The second is at least thirty days because many of our emotional reactions and responses are habitual. It takes at least 21 days to break a habit. And more to reestablish new healthier patterns. It will take longer than this book allows, but you are now on the
