    El Duende - Marlene A. Fulcher

    Dedication

    This compilation of poetry is dedicated to my wonderful family, members, past and present, of The Society of Women Writers WA and Karrinyup Writers’ Club Inc., who gave workshops on some of the forms in this collection and who encouraged my steps as a writer, and to Helen Iles who made this publication possible.

    Marlene A Fulcher

    .

    According to Wikipedia - El duende is the spirit of evocation. It comes from inside as a physical/emotional response to art. It is what gives you chills, makes you smile or cry as a bodily reaction to an artistic performance that is particularly expressive.

    A Celebration of Friendship

    There is a time, a time for giving birth,

    For living free, believing all the words,

    The musical enchantment of their worth

    When whispered in a garden full of birds;

    Recalling youth, a promise made with love:

    A time to smile, to hug a new born child,

    To make new friends and thank the Lord above

    For life’s contentment’s, just a touch of wild.

    But now it’s time, my friend, to celebrate.

    For thanking you who taught me how to seize

    The moment, hold to hope, appreciate

    And share the little things - a song to ease

    The pain, bring colour to a memory;

    To hear life’s music, live in harmony.
