    Foreword

No, I’m not married. So how can I write about loving my husband, you ask?

Isaiah 54:5 says, For Your Maker is your husband, The Lord of Hosts is His name; And your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.

I am 66 years old and have never been married. I think that qualifies me as being single. And no, there’s nothing wrong with me. I just have never met anyone I wanted to wake up to every morning or spend the rest of my life with. I haven’t always loved being single, but I have learned that it is a gift.

When I received Jesus as my personal Savior, I started believing God for a husband. I believed for several years that He would bring me one. Then, about 20 years ago, I realized that I had a really good family and lots of good friends, and I didn’t really need a husband. I also realized that not all women are meant to be married. I know that it is God’s gift—one of many—that I can be very happy staying single.

I am content seeing God as my husband. He is the perfect mate. He is my provider, He loves me perfectly, He talks to me, He does things for me and with me, He is always there for me—in good times and bad—and He is my protector. I could go on and on. Simply said, He is everything I want and need.

I wish I could be as perfect for Him as He is for me. But the great thing is that He is already aware of my imperfections, and He loves me perfectly despite them. He will never leave me or forsake me (Hebrews 13:5).

In this book, I want to share with you how God has worked in my life. I hope it is encouraging and shows you how awesome God is!

    Becoming a Christian

I started drinking at the age of seventeen and by the time I was twenty-four, I was an alcoholic. In June of 1975, I was out partying and was thrown off the hood of a car I was sitting on when the driver took off then hit the brakes to stop at a railroad crossing. I ended up
