He Bore It - Anita Blackburn

    He Bore It

    Dedication

He Bore It is dedicated to my mom, Mabel Agee, who passed away December 2005. She loved to write, especially poetry, and all the poems included in this book were written by her.

Thanks, Mama, for leaving this legacy. I hope I do you proud!

    Mabel Claire Willett Agee

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

    —Isaiah 53:5, ESV

    Preface

In July 2013, Jesus revealed to me in a dream that he had something new for me to do. After going through some health issues, I was told the reason for going through them was to be able to do something new—write his book.

Two thousand years ago, when Jesus Christ was crucified, all disease, bondage, and poverty died on that cross. Only Jesus was resurrected, not the afflictions. The focus of He Bore It is to let you know that disease has no license to establish itself in your body.

At the end of this book, I have included Bible verses as well as a personal prayer journal for prayers requested and prayers answered. Read, study, and meditate on them. Start ramping up your belief that your illness is dead and buried. Believe to receive and watch God’s manifestations and miracles unfold!

    Acknowledgments

I want to first give praise, glory, and thanks to God. Without his direction, I would not have been able to start—let alone complete—this project. After all, it was his idea for me to write this book. He has given me everything: the words and the title.

I want to thank my husband, Dale, for his encouragement and support. Dale, you are the love of my life, my anchor (appropriate since you are a Navy man), and my best friend.

I also want to thank my cousin, Elizabeth Betty Sink, who passed away suddenly in October 2017. She had always been like a second mom instead of a cousin, and she was always there for me. I could count on her to give me good advice. I love and miss you dearly.

I want to thank Ann Kirkman, author of The Travel Agent Glory Days, who encouraged me and proofread (several times) my drafts. I cherish our friendship.

Lastly, sometimes we have people who come into our life for a brief time and leave. Other times, we are so very blessed to have people who stay, and we are there for each other through thick and thin. My blessings are Joyce Walsh, who I met about thirty years ago (my, how time flies) when I moved to Danville, Virginia; and Linda Hyatt, who I met at the gym about fifteen years ago. You are my family; my sisters.

Joyce, whenever I’m having one of those days, just hearing your voice lifts me up and gets me back on track.

Thank you, Linda, for inspiring me to finish this book after shelving it and setting me straight when I lose sight of my goals.

I love you both to the moon and back!

    Chapter 1:

Put the Blame on Adam and Eve

Therefore, the Lord God sent him out from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.

    —Genesis 3:23, ESV

The first thing many people do when they are diagnosed with some type of ailment is to say that God is punishing them for something they did. Do you honestly believe that God intended for our bodies to become unhealthy?

The Bible tells us that we are made in God’s image. It was not in his plan, but it was in the plan of Satan. Have you ever wondered why and how they came to be? It all began with Adam and Eve.

When God made Adam and Eve, he gave them dominion over the earth. They literally had it made in the shade! But then the devil, disguised as a serpent, came along and lied to Eve by telling her God was not telling the truth about eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God had told them that they would die; however, the devil told Eve that by eating fruit from the tree, she would not die. Instead, she would be able to be like God and know good from evil.

The devil was so convincing that not only did she eat the fruit, but she talked Adam into doing the same thing. At that moment, at the first bite of the forbidden fruit, all their authority over the earth was imparted to Satan. At that moment, sin along with poverty, lack, bondage, and disease was on the earth.

So if you still believe that God is punishing you by imparting some type of storm in your life, consider the following scriptures about God’s plan.

Saying, "If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer. (Exodus 15:26, ESV)

You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you. (Exodus 23:25, ESV)

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy. (Psalm 103:2-4, ESV)

It doesn’t appear that God is the one responsible for sending the afflictions upon us, nor did he intend for them to be a part of his plan for a perfect world.
