    INTRODUCTION

Doctors, did you know that purpose is where it all begins? It is the why that, when found, can change your world instantly. But how do you find it? Many have no idea or even a clue—and that’s where I come in.

My name is Dr. Drai, dean of the Medical Moguls Academy. My purpose is to help doctors who are overworked and overwhelmed build profitable businesses based off of their purpose in order to maximize their revenue in less time. It is my desire that you have the freedom that you deserve. In order to possess that freedom, you must first connect with your purpose.

Prior to becoming a Medical Mogul, I was standing right where you are now. I was unfulfilled, tense, and most importantly, absent from my life. The dream that I was supposed to be living turned out to be a daily routine of never-ending unhappiness. Finding my purpose led me to discover how to turn my pain into profit. Profit and time freedom are all benefits of finding your purpose. Let’s create the blueprint for finding yours NOW.

    What is a Medical Mogul?

A Medical Mogul is a doctor who possesses the business savvy to replace hospital income by utilizing his or her gifts and passions to create financial freedom. Being in business provides a freedom that creates lucrative revenue streams and expands your reach beyond the exam room, where you are only helping one-to-one, to serving one-to-many. Basically, a Medical Mogul is a doctor who does more and heals more in less time.

Your biggest treasure is hidden within you

While an accurate diagnosis, a properly executed treatment care plan, and a follow-up are all valuable, so is the need for information. People pay a lot for good information—what you know. One benefit of your medical degree is that you are filled with lots of valuable information. Becoming a Medical Mogul allows you to customize your schedule and get paid for your genius, without countless hours at the hospital or the daily routine of a clinic. This means trading in your on-call commitment for a more fulfilling social life, vacations free from calls from the office, and more time to focus on starting or growing your family. This book is here to catapult you into your new life.

    Still not convinced?

Are you a doctor who is overwhelmed, stressed out, and paid less than you are worth? Do you desire to monetize your education beyond the boundaries of the hospital? Are you a doctor who wants to generate wealth while leaving your mark on the world?

Did you answer yes to any of those questions? The time is now! To be a leader in the marketplace, to develop the courage to be a legend, and to create an authentic life for yourself. This is your year to defy self-made limits and become a greater, more productive you and accomplish everything you want in life. Are you ready to break habits of self-destruction and intensify the power within? This is your season to master your significance and step into your greatness.

Trust me—you’re in the right place!

As we learned in physics, mass x velocity = momentum. You are the mass. Dr. Drai is the velocity. Together, we can’t be stopped.

In this book, you will learn from 38 Medical Moguls who have 38 strategies but one goal. During this journey, remember to keep your eyes and heart wide open, and most of all, enjoy the ride. Welcome to The Making of a Medical Mogul Volume 2. Are you ready?

    His Story

As the youngest of eight kids, at six years old, I recognized my calling of being a doctor. My grandmother cleaned houses for doctors, and one day, while I was tagging along with her, one of my grandmother’s patrons allowed me to listen to my heart with his stethoscope. Hearing my heartbeat for the very first time caused me to fall in love. In that moment, I knew I was meant to be a doctor. I began to focus on my study of human anatomy. My determination led me to graduate at the top of my high school, medical school, and OB/GYN residency classes. This led to serving on a major medical board that represented thousands of physicians, as well as my first job managing 10 offices for a nonprofit organization.

Since then, I’ve delivered over 3,000 babies and performed over 1,000 surgeries.

Although successful, I had an embarrassing secret. I was unhappy. Doctors are supposed to be perfect, right? The stress of being overworked and underpaid created physician burnout. Physician burnout is real; I didn’t want to admit it. I am the American Dream and should not be experiencing the feeling of regular folk. The stressors and constraints of the healthcare environment had become too much. How could I heal others when I was not healed myself? I was suffocating. My journey began to shift after falling asleep while driving home after a 36-hour shift. Awakened by a police officer along the interstate, I realized I could have died. God now had and still has my undivided attention. Being a prisoner to the money and the perceived fame hindered me from walking in my purpose. The thought of my passion being gone and my gifts being wasted caused me to change my focus from charting on patients to charting my EXIT plan.

As a result, I now have an award-winning blog, am a bestselling author, can demand over six figures to speak, and am often seen on TV in the top 10 media markets promoting medicine to millions of viewers. Finding and living in my purpose has allowed me to teach burned out physicians like me how to use their expertise to generate wealth in other industries.

A lifestyle of time freedom is exactly what you deserve. Take the steps to monetize your medical degree! My true desire is that you be happy again. To relive that same feeling you had when you first got accepted into medical school, when you opened your envelope on match day, or when you graduated from residency. Doctors, I want to empower you to shift from prison to passion and profit. I want to teach you how to create a legacy for your unborn children, be able to spend time with your family, and ultimately find a true work-life balance on your own terms while having active and passive streams of income. #MedicalMoguls, you are more than just doctors, and you are more than just medicine.

I’m overjoyed that you are saying yes to your journey to freedom. I’m ready for you, #MedicalMogul, to take the road less traveled, beyond the clinic and hospital walls, to create a profitable business based off of your purpose. Are you ready to walk in your purpose and create multiple streams of income while experiencing the freedom that you deserve?

Advice to the Emerging Medical Mogul

In being a Medical Mogul, you must embrace taking imperfect action. I love this quote from Tony Robbins: Winners take imperfect action while losers are still perfecting the plan. Some doctors are reluctant to take action because they want and need to be perfect and have the perfect learning environment. These are ideas we accepted early in life, and they have become our way of sabotaging ourselves. The kids who make all As are most likely to become doctors. Kids who want to please their parents, those are the doctors. Kids who do everything by the book are likely doctors. Be okay with the idea of being imperfect. Find and connect with a tribe of like-minded individuals with whom you can exchange ideas and who will hold you accountable. Accountability steers imperfect action.

What’s your true story? Not the one you are comfortable sharing. The way to your purpose is through your pain. Find your purpose now. A confused mind stays overwhelmed and indecisive. Get clear on your purpose. Why are you here on Earth? If you removed all of your fears and self-destructive behaviors, what would you be doing? One of my biggest fears is that you will die before you have the chance to live life on purpose. Your purpose is bigger than you; you are here to serve humanity. Your gifts are here to make a difference in the world. All you have to do is show up.

If I could do it all over again, I would tell my younger self to relax, have fun, and have no regrets. Movements are not built overnight.

The Real Estate Guru for Doctors

    Meet Dr. Goldie Winge

    img4.jpg

Dr. Goldie Winge is a board-certified anesthesiologist born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended the University of California, Riverside, as an undergraduate and the UCLA/Drew Medical Education program for medical school. She completed her anesthesiology training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Medical School–affiliated teaching hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and returned to Los Angeles after completing her residency.

In 2016, she purchased her first home, a bankruptcy sale, in the competitive Los Angeles housing market. After many unexpected trials and tribulations during the five-month escrow process, such as navigating the court system, presenting an offer to the trustee and gaining approval by the judge, and dealing with the Internal Revenue Service and escrow company, she became determined to help fellow doctors buy homes more efficiently by providing valuable and practical, yet hard-to-find information and resources. During her escrow process, she discovered a passion for real estate.

In her spare time, she enjoys learning about all aspects of real estate. She has coupled this with her other passion: teaching. Dr. Goldie has helped many colleagues find houses and obtain financing for the home of their dreams. She has a talent for connecting people to good things, and a house is one of the biggest purchases a person will make in his or her lifetime. Dr. Goldie is happy and excited to help connect doctors and other professionals to outstanding resources. Her attention to detail and careful listening skills help her understand the unique and individual needs high-earning professionals have when buying a house. As a physician herself, Dr. Goldie understands the many challenges doctors face in this highly competitive real estate market, such as limited time due to clinical obligations, high student loan debt, and a lack of educational resources geared specifically toward doctors during the home-buying process. Dr. Goldie’s goal is to help physician attendings, residents, and other professionals find, fix, and finance the house of their dreams.

    Her Story

Since I was a child, I’d always dreamed of having a big, beautiful house in a nice neighborhood. But I grew up by USC, which was considered the hood. Both my parents were USC alumni and professionals who wanted to live by the school to continue the nostalgia of college life. However, I never felt like I fit in. I was interested in playing the viola and watching Double Dare while the neighborhood kids were allowed to hang out and do cool things.

One day, while coming home from school, a group of teenage boys saw me by myself. They started shouting lewd comments at me. Their laughter filled the air. I became scared, and my heart started racing. As I walked faster, their comments became more and more disgusting. Suddenly, fear overtook, and I started running. The boys got on their bikes and chased me. I ran as fast as I could but had no idea where I was going. I reached a cold metal gate. I tried to open it, but it was locked. Salty tears streamed down my face as I started to cry. I looked up and saw that I ended up in front of my mother’s friend’s house. The yelling and heckling made her come outside. She turned on the crazy African mom persona and chased them away. In that moment, I promised myself that I would never live in a bad neighborhood again.

After medical school and residency, I moved back to California, looking to buy a house in a good neighborhood. It seemed like the perfect time to buy in 2011, but I had just finished residency and didn’t have any money saved for a down payment. I became motivated to save for a down payment.

A few years later, I found a house I liked and guessed I could afford. I put an offer in, and it was accepted. I entered into escrow in 2013 but decided to pull out. The home was very old,
