Both Patients and Doctors Are People

Firstly, from a patient perspective going through cancer, can you outline some of the changes you think could be made to help patients feel more comfortable?

When I was in hospital I received world-class treatments - and quickly. But my experience left me with questions about the system. As a system I would have liked it to remember that I was a person, not just a problem. And that while my care was routine for those providing it, for me it was abnormal, odd and frightening.

In an ideal world the people in the system - patients, doctors and other care providers would feel equally empowered. We would design places and systems alongside the people who have to use them. What does a waiting room feel like? What appointment length is a doctor comfortable with? Is there a way for doctors and patients to communicate outside of the clinic appointment?
