About the Author
Introduction
There will be so many times you feel like you’ve failed, but in the eyes, heart, and mind of your child, you are super mom.
—Stephanie Precourt
I’m a forty-plus-year-old woman, a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, a wife of over fifteen years, and a mother to three young children. I know a little somethin’ somethin’
about parenting. Over the last several years, I have experienced tremendous joy, as well as many difficult challenges, in my personal life and similarly have witnessed such ups and downs in the lives of the thousands of children and families whom I have had the honor and privilege to serve. Building upon the richness of these experiences, I have formulated a few quips related to life, love and marriage, and parenting that I frequently share with family, friends, patients, and now my readers.
The following sayings reflect my attitudes, beliefs, and intentionality as a woman who fulfills several roles for many—a manifesto of sorts to beautifully guide me through life with grace, humor, and practicality:
1. The two hardest (and arguably two most important) things I will ever accomplish in my life are to stay married and raise my children.
2. Our children often thrive in spite of us.
3. Laughter is good for the soul.
4. Smiles are contagious: give them freely and generously.
Moms, I hope you will truly enjoy this book and that the words and stories contained within it will inspire you, encourage you, and remind you that you are enough!
