If we don't move, the horizon remains the same – often to enjoy, then comes a positive restlessness to encourage movement so we are always creating new horizons.

Introduction
This book has been created from many of the blogs that I have written and posted on my website:
PeterJohnsonOnline.com
and slightly edited here to form a text to challenge some of our everyday thinking.
In the whirlwind of daily life we can so quickly miss many of the things that can seem less important but, when we take some time to reflect, there are valuable messages to draw.
This book is not intended to be read at one sitting – more to be regularly dipped into and a chapter read that catches your eye or imagination. It does not have all the answers, and in many cases your own questions and answers will be more powerful than the ones written, I hope it becomes a catalyst for your own creativity. So make notes, write in the book and make it your own – there is plenty of white space to do so......it has been designed that way.
I have been asked about the message in 'creating new horizons', a term I have often used and the answer is quite simple. I was a competitive sports person and a keen favourite was the 400 metres and 400 metres hurdles – for those not too familiar with an athletics track, that is one lap.
As I have grown older, and I hope wiser, I came to realise that there is much to reflect on the 400 metres. The very first time I ran a 400 there was no training, no warm up, and no preparation. Just an instruction by the sports teacher, holding a stop, watch who bellowed: 'When I say go Johnson, run as fast as you can round the track and don't stop till you get back here.'
I did and it opened up a new world and a new metaphor:
Life is a one lap race - with no practice lap and no lap of honour, even if we win!
Perhaps that is why I love to discover or create new horizons.
Even on a flat running track your horizon changes until your focus is the winning tape. So there is always more to see, more to learn, more to experience – especially when your goal become clear.
So let's ensure every step on that lap a brilliant one. We won't get another chance.
Now unleash The Mentor Within…..
My best wishes,
Peter Johnson
