For my family, who have lived with bipolar disorder as long as I have, and my friends, including my boyfriend, for generating ideas and giving me the motivation to bring my vision to fruition.
I would like to acknowledge the support I have received from Jude Aquilina and a Richard Llewellyn Arts and Disability grant from the beginning of the project in 2011 until this exciting final stage. I would also like to thank Life Without Barriers.
Thank you to all the people in my life who have helped turn my grandiosity into a reality.
Foreword
Pendulum is an extraordinary collection of poetry. These hard-hitting poems could not have been written by anyone else but this highly creative, honest poet, film writer, stand-up comedian, peer support worker, writer and friend…Kylie Harrison.
I am privileged to have worked with Kylie on this book. Thanks to funding from the Richard Llewellyn Arts and Disability Trust, Kylie and I embarked on a poetry mentorship that lasted many years past the time frame and I know will continue.
Pendulum is one of those books that had to be written. Kylie always wrote poetry and kept journals. She wrote through her teens, through the onset of mental illness and into her adult life and present career as a peer support worker.

It is little wonder the poems in Pendulum are emotive, edgy and extremely telling about what it is like to experience such states as psychosis or mania. Many poems reflect peaceful, happy times with family, friends or nature. Kylie is a keen observer of life, within and without – and a skilled portrayer of details: from the minute in the natural world, to
