      Broken Vows: Divorce and the Goodness of God is yet another excellent offering from the folks at Cruciform Press. I have found myself speechless on more than one occasion recently as I tried to nurture a close friend through the pain of a marriage hurdling towards divorce. I saw this book on Cruciform's website and ordered it. Broken Vows did not disappoint!What is so refreshing about this book is how God-ward it is! John Greco's life was ripped apart when his wife terminated his message. His ministry was ruined. His dream job fell-through and he was left wondering where God was in all of the mess. Now, years removed, he writes from a clearer perspective - a perspective that sees God in all things. "A gospel-centered life learns to recognize everything - even seemingly bad things - as being the very best from he hand of a loving God and Father" (86). This fresh, God-centered perspective enabled him to say, "God showed me that his plans for my life had not collapsed, that he would use even the hard places of divorce and unemployment for my good and for his glory" (89). Once a broken man, Greco is able to close out his short book with this sentence: "Life is good, because God is good" (90).I think Broken Vows is a great read for just about everyone. Divorce touches so many lives today. The church needs to have words of life for those experiencing the pain of divorce. This short book can help. Divorcees can find a path to recovery in these pages. Even happily married people can see clearly the goodness and greatness of God in this book.
