- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Some great principles for helping you live a better life. I didn't feel like the ideas were particularly helpful for me personally, but for someone else this book could be life changing. Worth a read.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Unfortunately, this book was extremely vague. I was looking for step by step tips on how to unleash the leader, locked deep inside of me. I didn't gain much knowledge from this book at all. The only significant bits of information provided described that being mindful and listening to our feelings is extremely important, and that in order to lead, one must address and acknowledge the leadership potential in others. Any leadership that exerts power over others and contributes to disunity should be avoided. However, I really didn't learn any distinct tools to develop my leadership skills.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I found little new material in this book It was an easy read but provided just vague information. Also, trying to put religious concepts into a secular topic failed. I don't mind ready spiritual books and I read a lot of 'self-help" but I like to decide which I want to read and I don't like them together.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I agree with a lot of other reviewers that said the book was vague. Although it did have a lot of nice principles I felt there could have been a lot more.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Christine Horner approaches leadership and self-development through the lens of mindfulness/meditation. I enjoyed the unique take on leadership, although parts of the book were fluff and cliches.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A good read for those seeking a positive way to convey a point, give a speech, and communicate in an effective manner. The use of big words seemed overused throughout, like the author was trying too hard to appeal to a certain crowd, but overall the book had many good points.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Honestly this book started good and then got really slow. It was exactly what was expected as a leadership book and that was also a little disappointing but overall it was a good book.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Take a lot of New Age axioms that have been around since the 80s, mix them with some leadership buzz words, and then stirred (not shaken) with consulting quagmire and a dash of mindfulness and you’ll get this. With that said, one point hammered home, which should be a no brainer, is that the more you invest in knowing yourself the better leader you’ll be. This should take priority. Unfortunately, we all know some idiot promoted into leadership because of who they know, nepotism, or narcissism that consistently destroys the culture and leadership of any organization.**this was a review copy**
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I was disappointed in this book. It was your typical leadership, self empowerment book. The author tried really hard to apply religious principals to a non-religious leader and the whole concept made no sense. There was a lot of what makes a great leader but no new concepts of how a person with littler or no leadership skills could improve their leadership ability. I am very involved in leadership development for both young adults and adults with the Boy Scouts of America. I whole hardheartedly believe that leaders can be developed and are not just born. I also believe that true quality leadership requires a belief in a high power, or force or dare I say God that the leader attempts to emulate or follow those teachings. With no belief in a higher God or purpose above the leader or the group they are trying to lead they will never develop as a quality leader.
