Home Business Start-Ups - Tony Neumeyer
Introduction
When the President George W. Bush, called Baby Einstein creator and founder, Julie Aigner-Clark, one of America’s most talented business entrepreneurs,
during his 2007 State of the Union address, every mom in America cheered. After all, she wasn’t the typical entrepreneur. This gal was one of them! She didn’t possess any extraordinary talent; nor was she a genius or business guru. She was simply a mom. Wait! There’s more to her story. Clark was a woman with an idea and the guts to take it to a level few thought possible. The result: a million dollar stay at home business that thrust her into the limelight (and the record books).
Julie Aigner-Clark is just one of millions of entrepreneurs in America. Yet, she strikes the heart of many. Why? Maybe because of her ordinariness. After all, she was just a young mother, whose swift rise to the top came by creating something that she thought would interest her own daughter. Living by the #1 rule of making it big,
Julie took her passion for classical music, science and poetry, and, coupling it with her interest in exposing her young toddler to these arts, created a product that helped fill a void, and made what is admittedly the most influential infant development media product of our time: Baby Einstein.
Her story is an inspiration for anyone who has an idea and wants to turn it into a million dollar business. After all, if this mom with no experience can do it, imagine what someone with a little know-how can do.
Starting any business can be challenging; starting one from home can be downright impossible for some, Yet, Clark took the risk and the result has been amazing. By the time the company released its last video in 2009, the company was estimated to be worth over $400 million.
If there’s a lesson in her story it is this: you don’t have to work on Wall Street to make it big. Sometimes the path to greatness begins in your own living room – or home office.
Finding Your Place At Home
Is the rat race getting you down? Are you tired of giving your job (and your boss) your very best for very little praise or acknowledgement? Are you ready to walk away? Stop! Maybe it isn’t the work you do or the career you have chosen that has you exhausted … frustrated … and well, ready to run. Maybe it is the place where you work.
Imagine a life where you are in charge of your days (and how you spend them); what clients to work for; how late into the day or night you work; and even how much you should be paid for a job well done. Oh, did I forget the benefits of being able to sneak out of the office to catch your son’s soccer game, or the ability to make a dentist appointment without the fear of being reprimanded for being away from your desk for an hour? Sounds pretty good right? All of this is possible when you work from home. Whether you start your own business or you telecommute for an established company, you and find the kind of freedom and enjoyment in your work that you want. You just have to be willing to give it a try.
Working from home is becoming all the rage. Forbes Magazine now estimates that as many as one in five American workers are based in a home office. A concept that seemed implausible just a few decades ago has now become the normal way to run a business. Why, some businesses are even closing down their expensive offices and requiring workers to set up a home office instead.
Those who are even more adventurous are discovering a wealth of opportunity in establishing their own businesses and taking control over their futures and their careers. With so many opportunities now available to those who want to work from home, just about anyone (with any level of experience and training) can find some way to bring their work home – a merger that can be both practical for busy families and offer a higher standard of living – not to mention a lot more cash in your pocket.
Working from home is one thing; but developing a business that can grow and prosper is another. In this book we are going to take the concept of working from home
and show you how to turn it into a thriving business that can set you – and your family – for life.
Not every job
can be turned into a career or even a booming business. But you will be surprised to see how
