The Wind Beneath My Wings - Lauretta Waters
CHAPTER 1
THE BEGINNING
Who’s driving you? Well if you are unable to answer that question now, don’t worry you will after reading the chapters in my book. And in order to fully understand my reason for writing The Wind Beneath My Wings, I thought it was only fitting to begin by introducing you to the man who started it all. God! He is the wind beneath and above everything living and nonliving.
I’m sure many of you were like me, curious, and wondered where it all began? I did many times. The mystery of where and how it all began is very intriguing.
As I pondered where and how it all began, thoughts of the power of God plunged deep inside my head. Creation at its best!
Although everything else had a beginning, God has always existed. God existed before the beginning of time and will exist when time is no more.
Psalm 90:2 (KJV): Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the Earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
God is not a normal man like you and I. He is spirit and he is the truth. He is life! According to the Bible, the book of Genesis is where the story of creation is found. Genesis is our intro-eye into creation. It gives us what we need to understand the formation of Heaven and Earth, and how creation came to be. Curious about creation, then look in the bible, book of Genesis to find interesting and heartfelt information that will enlighten and warm your heart as well as fuel your mind. You will gain knowledge regarding the beginning of time that will assist you in understanding the relationship between man and woman. Creation came about by the work of one man (God). He has always been the force behind the wind. The force behind it all!
GOD CREATED HEAVEN AND EARTH
In the beginning there was nothing here. Only God! Heaven and Earth were without form until God showered Earth with his power and blessings. He shaped and formed Heaven and Earth into existence.
God is so powerful all he had to do was speak it, and it was! Imagine that! God and his infinite wisdom knew what was needed and put his plan into action. He formed the light. After being formed, the light was separated into day and night. Thank God for that, because if God had not made the separation, we would be a world of total darkness or a world of total light.
Since there was no water, God supplied Earth with water, and divided the water as well. Water was formed above and beneath the Earth. The lakes, rivers, oceans, and streams we see today are water formed by God.
The land was vowed and needed to be filled with living and nonliving creatures. God spoke it into existence and blessed the land. But wait a minute; he was not finished with creation. The human element was missing. So, on the sixth day, God created male and female. Man was created in the image of God, and woman was created from the rib of man, and that is why God expects man to be holy because He is holy. Woman was part of man from the beginning and is expected to be man’s helpmate.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV): And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
Now Earth was no longer empty nor was it without shape or form. It was shaped and molded into existence by God. After the work was completed, on the seventh day God rested.
In reading Genesis chapter one, you will notice that the Heaven and Earth were created first. There was nothing here, so God’s spirit began to move over the face of the Earth and something started to happen. All God did was speak it into existence and it was so! Heaven and Earth were shaped and filled with what God had in mind and what man would need once he arrived on the scene. Everything that was spoken into existence, God was, and still is the force behind the wheel. He is our wind. Before creation he was in control and he will always have that role, because the Earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof. Nothing God does amazes me, because I know who he is and what he can do! I know what he has done in my life!
As you continue this journey with me, you will see the importance of the book of Genesis in man’s life. Without the beginning there would be no me or you.
Genesis 1:27 (KJV): So God created man his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Adam and Eve were tempted by the devil, and seemed confused as to where to turn. We too at times have no clue where, or even how to get the source of help we need to make appropriate decisions to combat what we are facing daily as saved and unsaved people.
We should never lean on our own understanding. When we believe we know everything, we know very little. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being confident, but make sure that while in your confidence, you allow God to drive your decisions. Always follow the advice given to you by God. Know who is speaking to you! You say, I don’t know God,
and I say, Get to know Him.
Once you get to know Him and make Him head of your life, you will not be the same.
Always watch as well as pray so you will not be tricked by the enemy, the devil, as Adam and Eve were. Although God was their wind they didn’t heave to his word. They drifted away into diver’s temptation called sin. But even then, it was God who gave them another chance to get it right. God has given all of us a way out. He gave His only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. If you make a mistake, don’t waddle in it. Dust yourself off, get up, and start all over again.
I’m sure Adam and Eve were very embarrassed and sorry for violating the commandments of God. But listen, God is a God of compassion and many chances. Although He banished them from the Garden of Eden, he did not kill them. They now would have to toil the land and provide for their own needs. In other words, Adam and Eve would have to work for their needs and wants. Before they committed sin all their needs and wants were granted freely by God. Now the gift of life
