研究美國歷史或政治的人，如果忽略美國的政治幽默，就像吃香蕉吃皮，把香蕉肉丟掉一樣，太可惜了。尤其美國自十八世紀立國以來，歷史很短，民主政治的歷史也不長，比起中國歷史來，似乎有今而無古。可是有關政治幽默的故事就有一大籮筐，這表示民主政治有趣得多了。
