Fathering Me: A Journey into Fatherhood
()
About this ebook
Fathering me is also about the multiple roles fathers must play in an effort to properly take care of their children. Within this book the reader will experience the highs (positive impacts) when actively involved fathers are present in their children's lives and the lows (negative consequences) of absentee fathers. These poems, authored by me encompass collective experiences gathered from many conversations, papers, individual sessions, couples sessions, clinical support groups, and workshops. It is my hope that this collective work, as I have captured it, will become a resource for understanding and have a positive influence in the lives of those who read it!

Foreword
Fathering Me: A Journey into Fatherhood
takes the reader on a journey through the hills and valleys, feasts and famines, joys and pains of fatherhood. You will experience the highs (positive impacts) when actively involved fathers are present in their children’s lives and the lows (negative consequences) of absentee fathers. On this journey, experienced via a collection of powerful, thought-provoking poems, you are invited into one of the most critical of familial relationships, i.e., that of a father and his children traveling the rugged path of parenting. David A. Jones, Sr., my brother and a licensed master of social work (LMSW), bares his soul and recounts the universal experiences of countless, other fatherless, young men. David takes you on an evolution from Hi Dad,
where a five-year old boy and his father are introduced to one another for the first time, to Searching,
where a young child envisions how a planned, albeit awkward, encounter with the father he never met would play out. Unfortunately, the meeting ends with the child still searching and yearning for words (answers) as his father leaves, closing the door of communication behind him. In Man-child,
a 6-foot tall adolescent, imprisoned by rage, expresses his anger at the father he never knew and
