A theatre and telecommunications graduate, Suzanne Collins started her career by writing scripts for children’s television programmes, notably for the Nickelodeon channel. In 2003, she first entered the literary domain when she published the first volume in a series of fantasy books for children, The Underland Chronicles. Although the series was not short of success, its achievements paled in comparison to those of The Hunger Games trilogy, which the author started writing in 2008.
The series attracted global enthusiasm from its publication, to the extent that its first novel has already sold over 26 million copies. The work, aimed at a young adult readership, was adapted for cinema into four films between 2012 and 2015.

The Hunger Games is an international phenomenon with a relatively young readership who are fascinated by the world described.
The story takes place in what is left of North America, destroyed by several wars and replaced by the nation of Panem. In this postapocalyptic environment, the country, divided into several districts, has been reformed by a totalitarian regime ruled with a rod of iron by President Snow. Each year, a cruel game in which 24 adolescents must kill one another, called the Hunger Games
, is organised by the Capitol to assert their supremacy over the different regions. The story thus follows Katniss Everdeen, a 16 year old girl who takes the place of her little sister, who has been chosen to take part in the Hunger Games. Determined to survive, she incites (almost in spite of herself) a wave of rebellion throughout the entire country in which she remains bravely and fervently involved.
