About this ebook

Ryuu, a red dragon, longs for a mate, so he's gone around the world gathering the best gems, but dragon law demands any dragon taking from mortals where a royal prince or princess is present must take them, so when stealing emeralds, he finds himself having to abduct an annoying prince. But at least the prince's capture caused him to leave the cave open for the most gorgeous knight to waltz right in.

Prince Cadfael of Cymru organized his capture, planning to steal the dragon's hoard to pay for the sell-swords needed to defend his country from invaders, but during his escape, he finds himself before the most handsome knight. Unfortunately, the knight isn't there to rescue him.

No, the knight, Yale, is the son of a witch, and he only came to put to rest a ghost haunting his grandmother. Friendly until the Cadfael and Ryuu flirt, he grows dismissive, inspiring the two to compete, but ultimately, he rejects them both.

When Ryuu and Cadfael each decide to woo Yale rather than letting him get away so easily, they're in for a fight. Will one of them win? Or will it take the both of them to convince Yale to take a chance on love?

Ryuu hadn’t wanted to take the prince. He was blond and stuffy. A pale aristocrat who didn’t seem to appreciate the significance of a dragon swooping down and taking him off his stupid little horse mid-travel to whatever important event he was supposed to go to with that long train of idiots guarding all the pretty emeralds. All Ryuu had wanted was the emeralds, but protocol required all dragons to capture any unmarried royals whenever possible. Ridiculous, frankly. Most dragons married dragons these days. Or for love - that happened often between a dragon and a hunter’s son or daughter. Maybe a baker’s child or two. Useful people. Princesses didn’t have skills a dragon needed. Mostly at least. And princes? Twats. The lot of them.

But the law was the law, and Ryuu wasn’t dealing with anybody reporting him for not taking the idiot and scaring his daylights whenever possible. Eventually, some guy dipped in metal would come and rescue the loud, blond annoyance. As it was, Ryuu organized his emeralds into a wonderful hoard. They layered right over his sapphires, creating a low multi-cool hue nest. His future mate would be so impressed. Hopefully, he could fill in the royal captive hole before then. Some dragons went for cages, but holes put royals in their proper place. In the ground. Plus, if no one ever came, Ryuu could just roast him and fill it in with dirt.

How dare you? the prince screamed. I am Prince Cadfael of Cymru! Only heir to the throne! Do you hear me you slimy reptile? You can’t keep me down here!
