About this ebook
Fate brought them together, but love gives them a second chance.
Henry thought he had it all. The perfect job, the perfect boyfriend, and a future with the two of them living the good life just one question away, but when his romantic proposal goes sideways, Henry leaves it all behind. Surrounded by nature, Henry rebuilds the dilapidated house and his heart. He might be out of practice, but his love of woodworking and youth spent on his grandparents' farm prepared him for this.
But he's not as alone as he believes!
Unbeknownst to Henry, he's not just repairing the house and the surrounding farm. His efforts have awakened the harvest god, Tano. Tano never intended to come to this country. When a man stole his shrine and brought it here in the waning days of gods and spirits, he did everything he could to help the old man and his wife find some comfort in the foreign land. However, now his shrine is in disrepair. The farm stayed empty for decades, and his powers grew weaker and weaker.
When a handsome and determined man arrives, Tano uses what little remains to help, but then his powers slowly begin to return. Doubtful they'll stay, Tano focuses on helping Henry as much as he can, but as he invades this mortal's life, he finds himself confused and enamored with this new world and with Henry.
Will Tano be able to stay? Or will his powers wane once more before he manages to confess his love?

Chapter One
Henry never wanted to burn his past and leave everything behind before. He wasn’t the sort to give up, and he rarely purchased anything on a whim. Every room in his three bedroom Manhattan apartment formed over the years with care and consideration. The bookshelves built into the bedroom turned study were a summer project. When he had time when stuck at home after breaking his leg biking in Peru, Henry stripped and stained the kitchen table. From the curtains to the tile of the bathroom he had refinished, his apartment formed with care over the years, and having bought it outright instead of renting, he had imagined he’d spend the rest of his life there.
But life didn’t go the way he planned. All his careful designing couldn’t factor in Robert’s answer. That warm night in Central Park with his boyfriend’s favorite flowers in his hands, Henry expected the next step in his happily ever after. Lilies usually made Robert smile, yet when he saw them this time, tears filled Robert’s eyes.
Getting him to take them ought to have been the first warning, but Robert liked big scenes, so Henry panicked that maybe he had gone too small. Dropping to one knee, he rushed to pull out the ring which he had designed. Everything Robert used to say he wanted. They had talked about jewelry on Valentine’s Day. Robert joked about their wedding, and Henry knew — he just knew — that they were ready. Both wanted kids. Henry got along with Robert’s sisters and their husbands. They watched the nephews over the summer, and those beautiful green eyes had looked at him — looked right into his soul — before Robert kissed him and called him perfect.
So how was Henry supposed to prepare for no? For Robert to interrupt his speech with tears — not the happy kind but ugly fat guilty ones.
I’m so sorry! You’re just so perfect all the time, and I’m this normal guy. You’re always going, going, and I can’t — I can’t do that the rest of my life!
Robert told him. I want to lounge on a beach with a margarita in both hands.
Henry blinked in confusion. We can do that. I can slow down. I want to slow down and enjoy my life with you.
Wiping away his tears with the back of his hand, Robert laughed. No, no — you really don’t.
I do! That’s why I quit yesterday,
Henry said, and Robert’s eyebrows shot up his forehead.
You what?
I’m tired of being in the rat race. It’s insane. I don’t get to spend nearly enough time with you, and between my stock options and savings, I’m set for life anyway. We’re set for life,
Henry added, searching the other man’s face for any sign his boyfriend understood how ready he was to settle down. To stop chasing the next adrenaline rush of victory in the financial sector.
Crossing his arms, Robert huffed, And what are you going to do with the rest of your life? You’ll be bored in a week.
"We could travel during the summer when you’re off from
