Swashbuckle Lil and the Jewel Thief

About this ebook
Lil is a pirate, a good sort of pirate, and when there is someone to save,
she'll do what is right (if it takes her all night). Yes, she'll always be bold and be brave.
On a trip to the museum, evil pirate Stinkbeard tries to steal an old king's ruby ring, and it's up to schoolgirl and secret pirate, Lil, to stop him! In story two, Lil and her pet parrot are off to a birthday party. But when Stinkbeard and his pet croc turn up, it's up to Lil to save the day.
Swashbuckle Lil and the Jewel Thief, by author Elli Woollard and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson, is the second in an exciting new series with two rip-roaringly rhyming, brilliantly illustrated stories in each book which make the perfect transition from parent-led to independent reading.

Swashbuckle Lil and the Jewel Thief - Elli Woollard
The Jewel Thief
1
Normaltown School was a dull sort of place.
Nothing went on all day L O N G .
‘It’s always the same,’ the children complained,
But, actually, there they were wrong . . .
Nobody guessed that a girl there named Lil
Was a pirate who’d sailed to new lands.
And there, in the shade, she had dug with her spade
To find diamonds and gold in the sands.
Lil never took treasure unless it was hers.
‘Stealing is bad!’ she would say.
Then Lil and her parrot, a red one named Carrot,
Would go off exploring all day.
But if danger appeared in the winds and the waves,
Then Lil was as bold as could be.
She tackled big squid in the depths where they hid.
‘Nothing,’ she’d say, ‘can scare ME!’
Yet even a pirate must learn how to read,
So that is why Lil sat in class.
But she of whales,
and lightning-lashed g a l e s,
And waters that glimmered like .
Miss Lubber,
