    CHAPTER 1: Danny paints in his bedroom a portrait on canvas and watches his grandpa Bob tailors a shirt in the living room using a body form mannequin. His felt hat atop the body form's headless neck.Are you O.K. in there? Bob says.I'm fine, Danny says.Are you good on supplies?I'm almost out of paint. Can we go out and get some?I have to finish this shirt first. The client will be dropping by anytime.I'll wait.Danny is eighteen years old. He looks skinny but tall with a beard which has recently started showing. He has discovered his love for painting since he was five. His grandpa has just celebrated his seventy birthday with his daughter Anne. He wished Danny's parents were present but they will never be since that fatal accident they had when Danny was just three years old. Bob has always been supportive and approving of Danny 's talent. He leaves no stone unturned to foster his painting in any way possible to further develop it.Bob and Danny walk in an art supply store in the aisle reserved for painting. Bob's felt hat is perched on his head. Danny checks out acrylic paint tubes. He rolls over one, makes sure of the hue then picks up a blue and burgundy ones and puts them in the shopping basket. Bob stares at him.Got everything you need? Danny nods.Great! I'm gonna get some cash. In the meantime you go stand in the checkout line.Danny peers at the long line. He sweats and his hands shake. I can't grandpa. You do it.Go and wait in line, that's all. No reason to be nervous.I can't handle it. There's a crowd.You need to face this head-on. If you ever expect to show your paintings or have a girlfriend. I won't be around forever.Next time.Bob pauses.Okay. I'll do it. This time.Bob pulls out an ATM card. He hands it to Danny.In the meantime, go and get me $200 from the ATM machine upfront. You can do it, right?Danny and his grandpa walk out of the store and wait for the bus with several other people.We should go to William's, Bob said.Why? Danny said.To tell him about your latest painting. You want to be famous, don't you?Danny
