    DEDICATION

Affectionately dedicated to Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo. An unusual Apostle of faith from whom I’m privileged to enjoy an indelible impartation of grace.

    INTRODUCTION

When most people hear the expression transference of spirits, the first thing that will probably cross their mind is transmitting of negative spirits or behaviour from one person to another by contact or association.

Even though the Bible clearly says that bad company corrupts good manners in 1Corinthians 15:33, it does not imply that every human character is a spirit which can be transmitted between two or more people.

Although, some negative characters have demonic spirits attached to them and can be transferred from one person to another. However, the believers are protected by the Holy Spirit and are not to live in fear of unconscious demonic invasion.

The Bible speaks differently about the transference of spirits from the secular world. It speaks of the transfer of the anointing of the Holy Spirit from one person to another person or people. This will result in the person or people to whom the spirit has been transferred, walking in a similar or even greater manifestation of the Spirit than the person from whom it was transferred. We see this in Elisha, who did twice as many miracles as his spiritual father, Elijah, after he received the mantle or transference of his twain spirit.

The Bible records that exactly twice as many miracles were done in the ministry of Elisha to that of Elijah. Elijah’s last miracle (the parting of River Jordan) was Elisha’s first. Consequently, he took off from where his spiritual father had stopped and advanced farther beyond him.

The seventy elders had a transference of spirit from Moses, who was a prophet, and they began to prophesy like him immediately (Numbers 11:17-25).

King Saul found himself in the company of prophets and he began to prophesy so much that people started wondering if he had become one of the prophets (1Samuel 10:9-11).

Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom because Moses his spiritual father had laid hands upon him (Deuteronomy 34:9).

The transference of spirits didn’t end in the Old Testament. In fact, the Old Testament closed with the promise of the messenger, whom God will send to prepare the way before the Messiah. That was John, who will come in the spirit and power of Elijah (Malachi 3:1; 4:5-6). There were 400 years of silence in which there has been no other prophet since Malachi. And then, the New Testament kicks off with the fulfilment of Malachi’s prophecy.

John the Baptist or Baptizer came in the spirit and power of Elijah (Mark 1:1-6; Luke 1:11- 17, 76; 7:27).

Even Jesus Himself confirmed it that he was the Elijah that was to come (Mathew 11:12-14; 17:12-13; Mark 9:12-13).

John the Baptist was said to be the greatest of all prophets that had come before Jesus (Mathew 11:11). While all other prophets told the world that Jesus was coming, none of them personally introduced Him to the world like John had the privilege to do. He was the only prophet who saw Jesus in the flesh, baptized Him and revealed or publicized Him to the world. John looked towards Him and said, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29, 36).

Jesus also said that the smallest in the Kingdom of God is greater than John because he did not witness that Kingdom.

John was an intertestamental prophet. He was beheaded shortly after Jesus began His public ministry (Mark 6). As such, he could not witness His death and resurrection, which was the birthing of the Kingdom of God upon the earth. Nobody could be born again until Jesus died and rose again and the Kingdom of God is made up of the Church, the born-again or New Creation in Christ (2Corinthians 5:17-21).

The word transfer means to convey something from one person to another. The word spirit as used in this book refers to the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Read the second epistle of Peter and the book of Jude and you will see undeniable similarities between the two. Perhaps, Peter mentored Jude.

Bishop David Oyedepo, the unusual apostle of faith to whom this book is dedicated testifies on the transference of spirits. He said he received a supernatural transference of the spirit of boldness while listening to Reverend A.A. Allen’s recorded message that is titled, God is a killer!

Papa, as we affectionately refer to him is a very humble but bold apostle of faith. He also makes reference to the impact that the ministry of Reverend Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory has on him. He even said that it was Hagin, whom he got connected to since 1976 that taught him the faith which set the stage for his life. And, from 1977, he connected with T. L. Osborn, who taught him how to hear from God, without which he may not have been in the ministry today.

Bishop Oyedepo also testifies of the impartation of the spirit of wisdom that he received by the ministry of laying on of hands. It was through Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the humble General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. I was privileged to be counselled personally by Pastor Adeboye many years ago, and my life and ministry have been transformed by that encounter. His voice is so full of Christ! His words sank deep into me... That man of God is so genuine!

I was under the Bishop’s ministration the first time he hosted Kenneth and Gloria Copeland. He pointed to Gloria in the face of over fifty thousand worshippers in the Faith Tabernacle and said, This is the woman that taught me the mystery of prosperity!

In another meeting, while teaching on mentorship Papa said, If you see anyone with the kind of result that you desire, locate his step and walk in it and you will find yourself at the same level of result. He also declared that David Yonggi Cho mentored him in Church growth since 1985 and that it shows in the result he has in Church growth today. He is producing results after his order. He said, Do you know that I’ve never sat with Paul Yonggi Cho in my life, yet he has been mentoring me since 1985?

You can be mentored by someone through their resources or receive transference of spirit through books.

Isaac Newton once said, If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

If you wait to invent your own electricity before using light, you may die in darkness!

Everybody is a product of more than one person. God
