A Portrait of the Human Heart: A Collection Of Poetry
By Noelle Dunn

About this ebook
A wilting flower before my eyes
the image of the hopeless loss
of each fragile petal
stings the senses as
I shiver at the irony
two lives lacking
what they need most
some nourishment,
a quick fix...
maybe even a small miracle
- love.

nothing.
That Which You Are
Classy, creative yet not quite artistic
a gentle soul and so optimistic
sophisticated in an old world style
hidden brilliance and worth your while
a romantic movie of black and white
dreamy, hopeful though a tad stage fright
a vision of fragility a chameleon’s disguise
fierce strength takes over should the occasion arise
a pattern of verse flows from quiet lips
a shooting star, a solar eclipse
like a waning moon your chance is gone
the new moon reveals you’ve lost control of your pawn
Feat
The demon’s back, he’s gripped my heart and soul
I’m tired of fighting, it’s my daily role
He makes me shaky, nauseous, too
I’m running out of things to do
I try to run far and hide
He’s at my heels right in stride
he’s faster, wiser than ever before
I give in, drop my knees to the floor
This feat has become more than I can bare
I surrender demon, I’m too tired to care
Forget
There it was
your face looking at me
a reminder of strength
a source for healing
a physical reaction
formed in the pit of
my stomach as I was
reminded of the trauma
the mind chooses to forget
in order to move on
your face linked forever
in an unfortunate twist
of unfortunate events
a doomed fate that haunts
a shattered human heart
that once danced and beamed
to a treasury of music
created by magical hands
of the gifted
to forget you is
to forget them
Wilting
A wilting flower before my eyes
the image of the hopeless
loss of each fragile petal
stings the senses as
I shiver at the irony
two lives lacking
what they need most
some nourishment, a quick fix...
maybe even a small miracle - love.
Hope Looks Up
The pain has found
it’s name and that
pain shall only be
confirmed and released
through the slit of
a knife by some stranger
I’m supposed to trust
as the pain worsens
I count down to the
possibility of freedom
and plan to relinquish
my well - being
my hope looks up
as the clock ticks, I wait
and my desire is to wrap
little dog in my bath robe and head
for the only safe place
I know - home
I long for the smells
of home cooking, a gentle
voice, a hot cup of tea,
a cool hand on my forehead, but
until the ticking of the clock stops
I shall continue to look up
because hope always looks up
Find Me
I called on you
so strong in your skill
if only for a few words of
kind encouragement
instead I am forgotten
as I have been forgotten
by so many
my heart is heavy
as I try to get past old hurt
and move on
but the pattern repeats
I reached for you
in search of humanity
and nothing else
You had the ability
to aid my new distraction
though you sat silent
I remember against my
better judgment
I took your hand
when you so needing,
reached for mine
I longed for so much
and yet, I asked for so little
as so little just might
have saved this broken soul
Did I not touch
the chords of your heart?
Vampire
Like a vampire poisoned -
the shining sun
no longer brings warmth
and happiness to a chilled body
the shining sun has become the
