    Chapter One

    Entered into warfare

Every person living their lives for God will have rewarding experiences. Rewarding, because, despite the trials and temptations they culminate in eternal life.

The ultimate goal of every born again believer is to inherit everlasting life. God has promised eternal life as a reward for faithful service to him. The faithful are those who love him and keep his commandments.

Eternal life is a gift of God. (Rom 6:23).Yes, it is God gift but the believers have to live their lives the way God desires in order to obtain it. To obtain eternal life you have to fight the good fight of faith. You must understand that the believer in Christ is in spiritual warfare.

We are in a battle against Satan and his host. This battle is not confined to the believer only, but every human being. We all have a common adversary, the devil, whose purpose is to destroy human beings.

    I Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

The devil will devour those who allow him to do so. God has paved a way of escape but there are some who choose to live in darkness.

Jesus speaks of such people in John 3:19,"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil".

Paul remarked in Romans Ch. 1 that such people hold the truth in unrighteousness. Such people, Paul declared, are given over to uncleanness through the lust of their own hearts to dishonour their own bodies between themselves. God gave them over to reprobate minds, working those things which are unholy and finding pleasure in doing those things.

Paul further stated that God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against unrighteousness, against such people, because when they knew God, they glorified him not as God. In 2 Cor 4:7 it is stated" …..the god of this world blinded their minds….."

On the other hand there are those who will live in holiness and truth. These are the people who have submitted their lives to God and have resisted the devil.

Resistance of the devil is necessary if we will be victorious. We must be prepared to fight the enemy.

Have you ever seen a wrestling or boxing match? These are good examples of a contest in which both contestants are resisting each other with the aim of having dominance. It is a conflict and unless there is a draw, there is only one winner.

Let me make an important point here. We must resist the devil as mentioned in James 4:7 but do you know that the devil is also resisting you? However, if you faint not your victory is assured.

    Zechariah 3:1-2

And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

And the Lord said unto Satan, the Lord rebuke thee Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of fire?

Here we see Satan resisting the efforts of the High Priest but he was rebuked by God.

Daniel prayed but his answer was held up because the Prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood the angel for twenty-one days and it took the help of the Chief Prince Michael to get the breakthrough.

Now we understand that even though we face resistance, we are promised victory.

    Psalm 34:19

Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

    Psalm 37:40

And the Lord shall help them and deliver them. He shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they trust in him.

Despite our affliction God has promised to deliver us. The Apostle Paul suffered many afflictions but remained faithful to God. He was able to be faithful because he found strength in God. He put his trust and confidence in the anointing power of God.

Paul was faithful because he was focused on the glory and not on the tribulations. You see the end result of our afflictions brings honour and glory to God. It is remarkable the way Paul saw his tribulations. Paul saw his trials as temporal and necessary for spiritual edification.

As long the believers can see things like Paul we will never give up. It is about the end results and never about the process. Many times experiencing the process is not pleasant but the end result is what matters.

Many times I faced challenges but with the help of God I overcame circumstances. There were times of discouragement when situations were not going the way I desire. However, I find strength in reading the word of God and in prayer.

No matter how tough the battle is, never give up for the victory is always a greater reward in comparison to the affliction. Many times in boxing matches,
