About this ebook

Some say it’s a fine line between right and wrong,
There’s only mere seconds between dusk to dawn;
The difference of heads and tails is just a flip of a coin

We’ve experienced the inches between love and hate,
realized the anxiety of patience and wait;
The disparity of the truth has to be a lie,
the divergence of the future are the days gone by

A fine line of innocence and guilt, except a doubt of reason,
which sometimes gets cloudy and milky;
Truth, white lies, forgetfulness and memory
Is it reality or just another anomaly?

Inspired by his faith, Carlos Jones shares a compilation of poetry that explores cultural influences, unique challenges, shared experiences, and the pitfalls of modern times. He hopes his words will enrich spirits, enlighten minds, and brighten horizons.

21 Poems for the 21st Century offers lyrical verse intended to inspire a connection with the Creator, reflections on life, and inner-peace and joy.

    21 Poems for the 21st Century - Carlos M. Jones

     Meditations

    JUST BECAUSE

    Justifications and reasons masked as excuses sometimes grow old

    Tasks unfinished, laziness, most don’t do unless they’re told;

    Acts or show, boastfulness often cause a buzz,

    Why can’t we do things Just Because?

    Charity and cheerfulness when one can,

    Forgetting Just Because, some do seeking an Amen;

    Good deeds willingly, results in blessings increased

    Insincere acts of grandiose looks good only in the press release

    Just Because, it’s so cleansing;

    Surprise, isn’t it refreshing when there’s no pretending?

    Cards of thank-you, flowers just because, makes a smile,

    takes breath and gives pause

    Just Because one has a lot of sense does not always makes them wiser,

    Accumulation of wealth without sharing makes them a miser

    Gifts and donations are very neat;

    Just Because makes it ah so sweet

    Our conditioning of working for what you get is sound and sane;

    The art of doing just because takes you to a higher plane

    Savvy tax strategist specialize in subsidizes;

    Spiritual awakening has transpired, when Just Because occurs without realizing

    Good Health, a portion of strength and a stable mind

    all come free of charge

    provided by The Master, just because.

    A FINE LINE

    Some say its a fine line between right and wrong,

    There’s only mere seconds between dusk to dawn;

    The difference of heads and tails is just a flip of a coin

    We’ve experienced the inches between love and hate,

    realized the anxiety of patience and wait;

    The disparity of the truth has to be a lie,

    the divergence of the future are the days gone by

    A fine line of innocence and guilt, except a doubt of reason,

    which sometimes gets cloudy and milky;

    Truth, white lies, forgetfulness and memory

    Is it reality or just another anomaly?

    Reasons, whys, and because could be substituted and dandy,

    instead, a fine line: maybe it’s more convenient or handy

    A thin edge exists between failure and success;

    Sometimes the one that wins, is not always the best

    Fine lines resurface between tough and tender,

    there should be a connection between the reader and the sender;

    Affluent, rich, and the have-nots

    the rich shouldn’t boast, some wouldn’t be rich if they had gotten caught;

    Beautiful and ugly, decided by the beholder,

    subtle invite for romance, blink and it’s really the cold shoulder

    Fine lines seem to criss-cross, multipy, interchange,

    interlope, divide and intertwine;

    No wonder there’s not much difference

    in sanity

    and losing your mind.

    DEJA VU AGAIN

    Alarm goes off, time to rise, and hopefully shine;

    Could’ve sworn I just did this, better move, there’s no use to whine

    Made breakfast, thought I just had oatmeal,

    well I guess oatmeal is better than no meal

    It’s Deja Vu Again,

    before we
