About this ebook
It is a must read as it will take you into a new dimension in your walk with the Lord Jesus.
...Evangelist Jenny McKenzie, Zion Church of Christ Apostolic.
In this book the author has taken the truths of Holy Scriptures and has skilfully used each subject to reinforce the principles and promises of God.
The style of the writing is simple, the message of each chapter clear and the evidence used to support each subject is irrefutable.
This book could be the ideal companion for daily use in both personal devotion and as a pocket encourager in the wider sense.
I would strongly recommend 90 Days in the Psalms as a must read.

Dedication
To every reader who longs after God, who enjoys being in His presence and takes delight in His Word, I dedicate this book to you.
If you do not yet have a personal relationship with the Lord, or have not learned the daily discipline of spending time in God’s Word, I hope that this book will help to get you started.
I pray that you will be encouraged to set time aside daily, not just to read today’s page, but also to study and meditate upon the Scriptures given. May you feel the same comfort and serenity whilst reading as I did when writing.
A special Thank you!
to my deeply loved mother who encouraged me not to stop but to finish! Every: Well done, Jac; you’re nearly there
helped me to write another chapter, although I didn’t feel as though I was nearly there at all!
A blessing too to the Servant of God who, without knowledge that I was writing a book or my circumstance, instructed me to: stay in the Psalms
. The timing was so apt; God knows!
May this not be just another book; in His law let us meditate day and night.
Introduction
The Psalms are read often, not just by Christians and the Jewish community. Its varied audience has over many years found the Psalms to be a source of strength and inspiration in all of life’s seasons.
The Psalms speak everybody’s language in the sense that we easily relate to what each psalmist wrote concerning what was happening in their lives, whether a good or bad experience is being shared.
Not all of the psalms were written by David although he is accredited with having written approximately half of them. I do feel that David’s beautiful writings well earned him the title of: The Sweet Psalmist of Israel
(2 Samuel 23:1).
Some of the authors of the psalms are unknown, i.e. a name is not given in the heading of the Psalm, but other named psalmists apart from David are: Solomon, Moses, Asaph, the sons of Korah, Heman the Ezrahite and Ethan the Ezrahite.
Divided into five sections, each part ends with a type of doxology/benediction: see Psalm 41:13; Psalm 72:20; Psalm 89:52; Psalm 106:48 and Psalm 150:6. Some of the recurring themes which I identified are: Trust and Hope in God, God’s Mercy, God is a Refuge, The Excellency of God and Praise and Worship. Notice also that Psalms 146 to 150 all start and end with praise!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey through the Psalms; I hope that you will enjoy the journey too.
Blessings to you!

Day 1 - Our Safe Place
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble
Psalm 46:1
Nobody goes looking for trouble, yet trouble somehow finds all of us. Be assured though, that even in the worst of times, really difficult times, God will remain faithful.
The psalmist in today’s reading reminds us that God is our refuge, meaning our shelter, our place of trust, our safe place! God is ever present and has an unbroken record of providing on-time help for His children. In the emergencies of life, trust Him who is known to be trustworthy; His help and grace are always sufficient.
When David had to face Goliath, the imposing Philistine giant, Saul offered to help David by lending David his armour. But David refused and told Saul that he would not face his opponent in armour which he had not proved, i.e. tested (1 Samuel 17:39). David wisely recognised that a fight with Goliath was not the right time to try something new; he needed to use what he knew would work! If you’re already in danger, why expose yourself to further risk?
I can hear the song writer saying: Hiding in Thee, Thou blest Rock of ages, I’m hiding in Thee
. The patriachs of old found refuge in The Rock who was here from before time began, so did the Shunammite Woman. How else was she able to declare: it is well
? (2 Kings 4:17-26) Why could Daniel with confidence continue to open his window and pray three times a day, knowing that his actions would lead him into the lion's den? He also knew that God is a very present help in trouble! (Daniel 6:1-16) The centurion needed refuge, strength and help; he had no doubts in his mind where to find it so came and said to Jesus: speak the word only...
! (Matthew 8:8)
Don't let trouble cause you to panic and forget who God is. Trouble is a golden opportunity to prove who He is: Our refuge! Our strength! Our very present help!
Closing thought:
God is my trusted place!
Day 2 - Heart Scan
O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me...Search me O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me
Psalm 139: 1, 23-24
David here begins his writing by acknowledging the omniscience of God, i.e. God is all-knowing. David seems to be in a deeply reflective mood as he considers himself being under the spotlight of God. To paraphrase, David's conversation with God is: LORD, you have examined my heart intimately; you know absolutely everything about me. You know what my next thought or word will be even before I think or speak. You know me better than I know myself
.
How true! Sometimes we think that we know how we would react if a particular situation presented itself but no, only God really knows our heart. Our immediate response in difficult and unpleasant circumstances can alarm and even shock us! Do you remember when Jesus predicted that Peter would deny Him three times? Peter said to Jesus, others may do that but I would never! Oh dear! How bitterly Peter wept when it came to pass and he failed to identify himself as being one who knew Jesus, because he feared for his life. (Luke 22:34, 54-62)
The tests of life come not only for us to prove God but that we might also learn more about ourselves. What is in me will come out when I am under pressure. When an orange is put under pressure, orange juice comes out. It’s not possible for grape juice to come out, only what is in the orange.
It is only when I see myself through God’s eyes that I will see what in me needs to change. Having started this psalm remembering the previous searches done by God, David ends the same chapter with a request that God search him again! LORD, the faults you found in me last time, are they still there? What else can you see in me that is not like Thee? What are my wicked ways, and do I have any idols in my life which I must tear down?
Before I close, let me present three types of patients to you:
1) this person wants to know the full story of what is going on inside of them. They also want to know what medication and treatment is best to cure the problem
2) this person reads the medical report and may have a discussion with the medical team about their health, but after consideration decides to live with the condition they've got; they decline treatment or decide to treat themselves
3) this person won’t go to see the doctor at all; they would rather not know their internal state
Which of the above best describes you and your spiritual condition?
1) the person who is honest enough to pray, Search me O God
and mean it. Lord, tell me how bad things are and what I must do to be saved
2) the person who is a bit sceptical about praying: Search me O God
, they’re feeling okay and not committing any major
sins and they are an overall good Christian
3) the self-righteous type who will never see themselves in a sermon or in the Word. They spend their life going to church examining others but will never go into theatre with the LORD and ask for an x-ray or spiritual surgery
Closing thought:
Search me O God and tell me what you find!
Day 3 - Who Shall Abide? Who Shall Dwell?
LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart
Psalm 15:1-2
Truth is pure. If I start to add to it or take away from it, it is no longer pure and therefore no longer true!
God is holy and desires to be in relationship with holy people. He is not a God of casual relationships, i.e. love God and love other gods as well. I show my commitment to my relationship with God by living a holy life by His spirit that dwells within me. It is He who said in 1 Peter 1:16, Be ye holy, for I am holy...
. The writer of the book of Hebrews took it further and said: ...without holiness, no man shall see the Lord
(Hebrews 12:14).
So it was while David mused over the holiness of God, i.e. God’s standard for being in relationship with Him, that David asked God, LORD, what kind of person are you searching for
? The answer: Someone of integrity; one who is upright in public and also when in private places. They cannot be bribed or enticed to do what they know is wrong. They constantly seek to please God and do the right thing. They give godly, unbiased advice to help others to do the right things too!
This kind of person has said goodbye to the pleasures of sin, has denied their own will and taken up their cross to follow Jesus. Such a one speaks the truth in
