Lessons From a Father to His Son - Paul A. Blake

    Chapter One

PROVERBS 1: 7 FEAR of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

My son, knowledge of God, is as essential as water is to life. The world is in this present state because humanity has lost its respect for God, who created it to be in service to Him. If you live long enough, there will be people who will tell you that God is no longer relevant to your success, but my child, this is a lie from the pit of hell. The wise man Solomon had set the record straight, declaring that reverence for God is where knowledge begins. We are free to either agree or disagree, but it does not change the truth, it is in your best interest to live by these words.

A wise person will accept the fact that there must be some entity higher than them that controls the affairs of this world. Only a fool will harbour any notion that they are in total control of what goes on around them. My son, fools think that they have the upper hand in all things, but the person with wisdom understands that God is the author and finisher of our faith. My son, fear the Lord and gain wisdom so that your days on earth will be better. If you turn aside from God's discipline, you will suffer the consequences.

In this life, you will know many useful things, but if you do not know God, you will be like a tree without roots. Seek after that, which will help you extend your life and forget about the non-essentials. I write to you my son, hoping you appreciate God is everything, and without Him, we can do nothing that will be meaningful. Commit His words to your mind and watch your life transform before your eyes. Even when the world tries to tell you that God is outdated, remember the good proverb that speaks about the fear of God and its connection to wisdom.

    Chapter Two

PROVERBS 2: 20-21 SO follow the steps of the good, and stay on the paths of the righteous. For only the godly will live in the land and those with integrity will remain in it.

The idea of goodness is increasingly being frowned upon by society. People equate being good with weakness, but it is a character that is celebrated by God. My son, strive to be good even when the world treats you with disdain. Being good and living intentionally to do what is right will not receive raving reviews, but do it anyway. It may seem in your eyes that only those that choose to live in rebellion against every system find success, but this is a lie the devil wants us to believe. You ought to follow the good examples that you see in the lives of those that have gone before you. Though the world may say something different, commit to a life of
