About this ebook

This book clearly describes the specificity of God as a pose to other gods, giving glory to him who created the heavens and the earth; who demonstrated his love for us through Jesus Christ. Whereas, our worship is our response to how we perceive and experience his love. It covers all spheres of our worship as believers. Beginning from the heart and reflected outwardly through our walk and service; by the inward process of transformation and glorification. It outlines the stages of growth in our relationship with God, from an expression of our love to a continual walk and lifestyle of seeking God and his purpose for our lives. Whilst our devotion and service might seem irrelevant and tidious to the carnal person, yet it carries great spiritual impact that shapes and shifts our destinies and that of the world. Hence, the book also places an emphasis on worship as an instrument that has the ability to shake spiritual foundations, build strong fortresses and is in itself a healing agent for the nations.

    DEDICATION

To my family, who are a great anchor and support structure to the vision that God has put in my heart; which is, to see revival and restoration of worship.

To fellow brothers and sister in the Lord, who have been a continual inspiration and motivation. The mere desire to see them grow in the Lord, has pushed me to reach a higher level of faith and maturity.

To the servants of God in their respective fields, be it within the house of God or in the field. May this be a motivation and encouragement to continue doing the work of God with steadfastness and passion.

    Acknowledgements

This work and compilation is a product of a variety of encounters, experiences, and lessons that have been orchestrated and initiated by the Holy Spirit. Hence I’d like to give all the credit, honour and glory to him.

I am grateful for the believers at United Baptist Church in Mafikeng; for all their prayers that pushed and sustained me in a time of labour pains. (during the production of the book)

I also want to thank the Lord greatly, for all the Pastors and ministers that he has used in my life; who have been involved in identifying and grooming the gift of God and mainly challenging and shaping character development.

It is through the platforms that they have opened up, to give an opportunity for growth and spiritual maturity that yield fruits to this day; and hence by God’s grace you are also a partaker.

    - The late Ps Mthethwa (Fellowship faith Centre)

    - Ps Matilda Tshabalala (Christian Worship Centre)

    - Apostle Fadani (Family of Christ Ministries)

    - Ps Kawulela (God’s Plan Ministries)

    - Rev B. Poo (United Baptist church)

Last, but not least, I’d like to thank all the worship team, choir, and prayer groups that God has connected me to. They have played a major role in my life and some are still close friends and brethren in the Lord till today.

To God be the Glory, Amen.

    How to use this guide.

This booklet, as the title states, is a guide and not to be used as a substitute of the Bible.

All inspirations and revelations that make up this booklet are founded on the Word and can be tested against the principles of the Word.

As there are references to the scriptures, please take the time to search them out in the bible; this will help you get the context and give you a clearer understanding.

The bible translations used in the booklet, are the NKJV (New King James Version) and CEV (Contemporary English Version), yet I would strongly advise you to use the King James as it has a more in-depth and solid foundation.

    Table of contents

    ii. Introduction

    Chapter 1: Preparedness to Worship

Chapter 2: Worship is an expression of love

Chapter 3: Worship as a continual walk with God

Chapter 4: Worship as a journey of discovery

Chapter 5: Worship as an instrument

    Chapter 6: Worship in service

    i. Foreword

Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the ones who do the will of my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 7:21) NIV.

The above citation grasps the powerful contents of this booklet, which is about the truthful and righteous worship.

Truth be told, in our times there is a host of varieties of worshippers, some claim to be God sent, while others claim to be true believers. However, what Jesus Christ reveals IS that one needs to worship the Father who is in heaven and not cling on proclaiming that he does.

This booklet is a blessing because it gives a very vivid picture of what it really means to worship God. Through reference to relevant scriptures, it provides the identity of the heavenly Father in relation to other fathers. It provides guidance on how to prepare oneself to be ready to worship.

The booklet shows how Jehovah God, the Almighty Lord, expresses his love, care and mercy to his people.

Reading this booklet ignites and revives one’s spirit. Though the issues are described and explained to full understanding, the reader never resists the desire to consult the bible for reading the referenced scriptures.

Save to say more, whenever I put my eyes on the contents of this booklet, I am reminded of the words of Jesus Christ when he said, Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks (John 4:23).

A further reference to the intensity and depth of the type of worship described in this booklet, is seen in the book of revelations as we see the sincere worship that is demonstrated before the throne of our Heavenly God, who is sovereign and above all things. How inspiring it is to know that four beasts round about the throne of God rest not day and night worshipping, saying, Holy, holy Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come (Revelations 4:8).

How much more to Spirit filled believers on earth, who understand worship which is pleasing to God. Worship which is offered with a humble and pure heart, with the beauty of holiness. Worship linked with truth and which is sincere and transparent.

True worshippers are channels through which God sends blessings to the body of Christ.

Apostle John reveals to us angels that fell before the throne on their faces and worshipped God.

Welcome this intriguing Worshipper’s Guide and stay fulfilled.

    Amen.

    ii. Introduction

It is my desire to see believers grow in the knowledge and understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the revelation and wisdom given by the Holy Spirit. It has always been a concern of mine, as with many who have come across certain mysteries in the bible, the frustration and dissatisfaction of not seeing the manifestation or yet the application.

The challenge is that not everyone has the same type of grace, measure of faith, and depth of revelation. Wherefore I only got an understanding of this truth at a later stage of my Christian walk; that is after I expected the brethren to see, do, and have similar encounters as I did, especially when it came to serving and worshipping God.

Therefore, this booklet is one of the means that God has inspired and built up over the years, as a means of answering a prayer to a deep cry of wanting to see believers experiencing his greatness and entering new levels of his glory. So then, a broader view of worship is covered through the topics within the booklet, which are comprised of different lessons and guidelines that will cause one to move from where they are to reaching a deeper level of intimacy with God.

Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert. So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority… was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and overtake this chariot. So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, Do you understand what you are reading? And he said, How can I, unless someone guides me? And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him (Acts 8:26-31).

As with the Ethiopian eunuch many have similar predicaments, who love to read the Scriptures yet the understanding might not yet be revealed to them. I believe, by the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, that as Philip was sent to intervene in the life of the Ethiopian, I have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to bring you this worshipper’s guide, of which I’m also a student of.

What is entailed in this guide is the expression of the parameters of my inspiration by the Holy Spirit, nothing less and nothing more. Therefore, I do not claim to have exhaustively covered the whole aspects of the scriptures.

The guide begins by uncovering the identity of the God that we are expected to worship. That knowledge will prepare us to focus our worship on him who is our Creator.

The second chapter deals with worship as an expression of love, how God expresses his love for us and how our worship in its unlimited capacity is our response to his love.

The third chapter deals with our relationship with God as a continuous walk that captures various sectors that affect our
