Power of Worshipping God

About this ebook
“I am a living witness of how God speedily responds to worship. A year ago, I was seriously ill in the hospital and at the verge of losing my life. I was in the intensive care unit suffering from emphysema. The doctors told my family that I had but five minutes to live. When it dawned on me that I had only five minutes to be alive, I decided to use these five minutes to worship God for all His blessings I had experienced in my life.
When I started worshipping God, the Holy Spirit acted and performed a miracle in my life. My lungs started opening. The Lord dwelt in my praises; His response was automatic by opening my lungs. I began to recover instantly. Some days later, I was discharged from the hospital completely healed by God’s power through worship. Isn’t this wonderful?" - Mr. Ronald.

Acknowledgments
I’m exceedingly grateful to God, the Father, the Source of all my blessings, for teaching me how to worship Him in truth and in spirit. I am thankful to Jesus Christ for my salvation, for without the shedding of His blood, I would not have been saved and become elected into the Kingdom of God. I am grateful to the Holy Spirit, who first taught, inspired and led me to share these biblical truths with the people of God.
My gratitude also goes to my family and to all the brothers and sisters who prayed for me. I am particularly remembering the intercessory group of the International House of Praise in Abidjan, the women intercessors for churches and nations in Côte d’Ivoire that I coordinated for some years, and the numerous friends and spiritual sons and daughters all over the world who support me with their love and prayers.
Finally, I thank Brother Michel Yoboue, who gave so much of his time to the proofreading of the French version of this book. I also thank Bishop and Mrs. Emmanuel Adamah, who devoted a lot of time to the translation of the French version. Finally, I want to thank my English-speaking friends and faithful readers in Kenya, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries who prayed and encouraged me to publish the English version as soon as possible. It is now a reality. They can now benefit from the rich teachings in this book thanks to the efforts made by the translators. May God bless all these people a hundredfold for their contributions to this book and to the lives of all the readers who will benefit from the powerful truth contained in this book:
Let everything that has breath, praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. (Psalm 150:6)

Preface
It was in 1972 that I became a true Christian. That was when I had my first experience in worship. In reality, I had a vague and superficial understanding of it, despite being a member of various choirs and singing groups, especially a group called Christ’s Ambassadors of the University in Ife, Nigeria, the Anglican Church Choir in Nigeria and the choir of the Nairobi Pentecostal Church in Kenya. I sang solos and duets during crusades, but I still did not understand the meaning of true spiritual worship. It was much later in 1999, after several difficult trials and experiences, that I came to discover a true and high dimension of worship as it is meant by God in the Bible. It was at this time that the Lord drew my attention and led me to know Him as the Source of the Living Water par excellence. I then discovered another level of worship, more personal, spiritual and deep, that is centered on God the Creator, the Almighty. He revealed a great number of Bible verses to me, each as wonderful as the next. All of these verses support the type of worship to which I am alluding and that which is acceptable to the soul and to the spirit. The Lord took me to the book of Psalms, which I had understood from a different perspective. After a complete study of the first chapter to the last, my eyes were opened to see what King David had seen. I realized there and then the intensity of what this king experienced in his personal worship of God. I ended up understanding why God called him a man after God’s heart.
With much passion, I extended my search through the study of several books and participated in various seminars on worship. That was when the Lord revealed to me the true spiritual worship that He appreciates very much. I became mesmerized by it and enthusiastic about it. So much time was lost during all those years of my Christian life! I have now realized that true worship impregnates us with divine unction; it speedily opens closed doors; it creates an atmosphere for miracles and fills us with joy. From that moment, my spiritual life took an incredible new turn for the better. My perception of God and the world changed completely. The Lord has since given me.
Beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that I may be called a tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified. (Isaiah 61:3)
Driven by this new spiritual energy, I made a covenant with God to worship Him daily and to teach men, women, children and youth everywhere I go to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Many doors began opening to me to go to other countries to give this key of worship to many people, and I bless God for raising a multitude of true worshippers on earth.
At one time, I was briefly distracted from this important mission. In fact, I allowed myself to become overcharged with daily professional, ministry and family preoccupations. The anger of God did not waste time to correct me. I suffered His wrath at different levels. Having realized my straying away, I repented and renewed my relationship with Him, promising to keep this altar of worship alive until my last breath. Lord, I ask You to strengthen me that it may be so. What I am sharing with you in this book is nothing but a tiny part of the great revelation that God gave me. He continues to reveal more to me every day, in the course of each prayer and while I worship Him. If you want the hand of God to be continuously upon you, do your best to understand the teachings contained in this book. Put them into practice and commit yourself to nurturing a permanent relationship with God. Your life will surely experience a revolution like mine did. May the God of covenant, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob bless you and inspire you for a fruitful reading. May you be filled with joy as you worship in His presence daily, and may you be the one He uses to brighten all dark corners in your community and nation. No doubt, His hand has been upon my life ever since I began this new level of relationship with Him. It shall be so for you in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Chapter One
The Worship Acceptable to God
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23–24)
What else can the Lord God Almighty seek for, the Creator of everything, of whom King David said, The heavens and the earth belong to You
? What need does He have, to whom all things belong? Certainly not material or earthly things. God is looking for true worshippers to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Many of God’s children find it difficult to understand the importance of the word worship. Pastor Norvel Hayes described in one of his books how he was driving in his car when God interrupted his thinking to tell him that He was not at all happy with how His children were living in poverty because they did not know how to eat at His table. On that occasion, he confessed to God that he too did not know how to worship Him, even though he knew how to preach. Still driving, he made this prayer: Father, teach me to worship You in spirit and in truth.
God answered his prayer, which completely changed his life and ministry. He experienced the hand and power of God through intensive worship. What does it mean to dedicate worship unto God? Many people have given it different definitions. In this chapter, I will share with you some deep things related to the worship that God is looking for in the lives of His children and creatures.
1. Ministering to God in worship is a deep and active response to God for His person and His creation.
Rendering worship unto God means to pay Him homage. One cannot pay homage to an enemy or to someone one does not know. One pays homage only to an admired being, especially when one has totally consecrated his life to Him. We can see, for example, that God loved the people of Israel so much, and He expected love from them in return. But the Bible says that God regretted that this people only worshipped Him with their lips, whereas their hearts were far from Him. You have certainly understood it; the first true step in worship is to give one’s whole life to God and to be submitted to Him entirely.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1–2)
As a creation of God, you should give all of your soul, spirit and body to the Creator as a living sacrifice. That signifies to love Him with your whole heart, submit wholly to Him, consecrate your life to Him and be placed at His disposal. That means to respect and obey His Word and His commandments.
I have
