    A Collection of Poems

    Dedication

This anthology of my poems, Come, Walk With Me! is dedicated to my wife Sharron. Her constant encouragement and nudging impelled me to search for and collect these pieces from the many locations where they were filed without thought of being retrieved. I am indebted to her and wish to thank her for her unwavering belief and support of my writing.  Without her constant prodding, this collection would not have been conceived nor become a reality.

For many years, my writing has been a victim of harsh self-criticism, and thus a frequent contributor to my waste basket. Hindsight tells me that many of those pieces were just as worthy of being included here. But alas, they are not retrievable!

These pieces vary in length and form.  Most of them were inspired by or written in honor of someone. Sometimes it was the celebration of a birthday or other special event. Nevertheless, it is my hope that you will find a useful thought or inspiration; or at the very least, derive some pleasure from reading them, as I invite you to Come, Walk with Me!

    Happy First Anniversary

    Dedicated to Carol F.

Months quickly pass, and it seems not long

Since the soloist serenaded you in song

There, in the church, amidst exquisite decorations

Your family, friends, guests, we gazed in admiration

Daintily down the aisle you came

Gleaming, beautiful - a wondrous dame

As if perchance, by invocation you had come

A goddess to ennoble us, from your kingdom!

Or perhaps, from the pages of a top rate

Glamour magazine, you made a magical escape

Being a picture of heavenly beauty, the finest hue

To torture men's souls, inflame desires, or hearts to woo

But no, soon the solemnity of the moment

Dispelled all reveries, wanton thought, or comment

As it was not long, before it was unmistakably clear,

You'd unite your heart, your love, with Craig your dear

The ceremony captivated hearts and minds, as we watched,

Thinking that you, Carol, and Craig, were fittingly matched.

Thoughtful, fun-filled, colorful, and happy, the reception –

A delightful celebration served to confirm the perception.

Now, a year has quickly passed with experiences diverse

Challenging your commitment, test your sanity, no worse.

But your love and devotion has triumphed over the adversary.

Now it i our turn to wish you both, Happy Anniversary!

With joy and delight, we send you hearty congratulations,

Wishing the ensuing year, and all others, deepen your relations,

Cement your love and trust, while strengthening your friendship,

Converting your life together, into a grand romance and courtship.

    The End

    Something's Aglow

There is something strangely aglow in my heart

Giving this day an unusual and exciting start

    Makes the sunshine appears dim

Although shining with all its vim.

I treasure it greatly, hoping it will not soon depart.

    Mother's Day Greetings

On this special day we celebrate Mothers

Whose care and nurturing do wonders

For her offspring and others who cross

Her paths, as love they always come across.

Sometimes it's the little gleam in her eyes,

Or the warm, pleasant, reassuring smiles

The comforting pat, or unexpected hug

That makes one feel relaxed, happy, smug.

It is the encouragement when one is down

Given in a way only she knows top-down.

It is the unasked advice she gives with speed

Only mother knows for a long time, we need.

They are some things she gives to help us grow

And we always wonder, How did she know?

So, Mom, mommy, mother, ma, mummy, mammy,

You are incredibly special! We wish you to be happy!

    Happy Mother's Day!

    A Bouquet of Roses

Proudly sits a bouquet of Roses in a vase

Decorates a table, adds beauty to our place

With a pleasant assortment of rich colors

Displaying nature’s beauty and its wonders.

A thoughtful gift of a loved one or friend

The colors may have been chosen to send

Or express deep sentiments the giver bears,

May have tried to express but was unclear.

Yellow, symbolizing the friendship with you,

Hoping over time it will deepen and renew.

Depicting the love that’s held for you is Red,

While Green is growth you’re wished ahead.

White is for purity ‘tis hoped you’ll retain,

As a new period in life’s journey you claim

To achieve new goals and fulfill your dreams,

As you embrace new pathways or schemes.

Silently the Roses bear their message
