About this ebook
What does it mean when your loyalty has been promised in blood?
They called it a family for a reason.
Nico
As one of the many soldiers that make up the Benetti Crime Family, Nico Rossi wasn’t like any of the other soldiers. Handpicked by Luca Benetti at the tender age of fourteen, Nico began earning his spot within the family early on. With plenty of jobs under his belt, there was no doubt that he was going to continue to climb the ranks within the family. After all, he answered only to The Holy Trinity.
Though Nico has done plenty of jobs for the Benetti Crime Family, his most important was Mia Gallo, his first Benetti job ever. Guarding her since he was fourteen-years-old, there was nothing he didn’t know about her. He’s watched her grow from a gangly eight-year-old to a college freshman, and only her brother knew her better than he did. Of course, Nico was also in love with her, so there was that.
Mia
Life was a series of events that were often unpredictable, and Mia Gallo knew that better than anyone. At eight-years-old, Ciro Mancini had appeared in her life and had changed it forever. Removing her from a toxic environment, Ciro had given her and her brother a chance at a normal life, and she cherished that blessing every day. Gifted with a second chance, Mia was eternally grateful for it.
Though Mia has done the best she can to lead a normal life, she’s still very aware that her life isn’t all that normal. With her brother working for the Mafia, she knows she’s not like everyone else. She understands that she’s a part of something bigger, but it doesn’t frighten her. It should, but it doesn’t. Mia also knows that the man of her dreams better not frighten easily, either.
When your past, present, and future belong to someone else...
As the unthinkable happens, Nico has to come out of the shadows and take care of business, finally revealing himself to Mia after all these years. Though not the way he had planned it, now that Mia Gallo is aware of his existence, Nico also makes her aware of a few other things.
As the unthinkable happens, Mia isn’t surprised to find out that she has an assigned guard. Knowing who her brother works for, not much surprises her when it comes to the Mafia. Though not what she expected, now that Nico Rossi has made himself known, Mia finds herself wanting to know more.
Face-to-face with their past, present, and future, they quickly find out there’s not much of a choice when it comes to what happens next. Especially, when it involves The Holy Trinity.
NOTE: This book contains adult language, adult situations, explicit sexual encounters, and violence. If sensitive to any of the aforementioned issues, please do not purchase.

Author’s Note
Just a couple of things before I let you go and get your read on. While I am doing my best to work with better editing and proofreading software, all my books are solo, independent works. I write my books, proofread my books, edit my books, create the covers, etc. I have one beta who gives me feedback on my stories, but other than that, all my books are independent projects.
That being said, I apologize, in advance, for the typos, grammar inconsistencies, or any other mistakes I may make. Since writing is strictly a hobby for me, I haven’t looked into commitments in regard to publishers, editors, etc. My hope is that my stories are enjoyable enough that a few mistakes, here and there, can be overlooked. However, if you’re a stickler for grammar, my books are probably not for you.
Also, I am an avid reader-I mean an AVID reader. I love to read above any other hobby. However, the only downside to my reading obsession is when I fall in love with a series, but I have to wait for the additional books to come out. And because I feel that disappointment down to my soul, when I started publishing my works, I vowed to publish all books in my series all at once. No waiting here…LOL. Now, the exception to that will be if enough readers request additional stories based off the standalone, such as in Facing the Enemy. At that point, if I decide to move forward with a requested series, I will make sure all additional books are available all at once. As much as this is a hobby for me, I am writing these books for all of you, as well as myself.
Thank you, for everything!

Prologue
2019~
I didn’t like Momma’s new boyfriend, but she said I had to be nice to him.
I didn’t want to be nice to him. I didn’t want to play with him at all.
I knew if Michael was here, he wouldn’t make me play with him, but Michael was gone. He was gone a lot. He said he had a job, but I didn’t know what his job was. He did buy me pretty dolls sometimes when he was home. I liked that.
I wished he was home now.
Momma said her new boyfriend’s name was Robert, and if I was nice to him, he’d let me call him Bob. I didn’t want to call him anything. I didn’t like the way he looked at me. It gave me the creeps. One day, after Robert left to take Momma on a date, I told Michael that I didn’t like Robert. He said he’d make sure that Robert left me alone, and I believed him because Michael was a good big brother.
Michael was big though, and that’s why he had to work so much. When you get big you have to get a job, so you can pay your bills. Michael also told everyone I was his sister, even though we had different daddies. Michael’s last name was Morelli and mine was Gallo. He was ten years older than I was, and that made him a grownup.
Momma’s scream made me run
