Glen Danger - Bo Bartock
Dedication
Time
When we left Ash and Ivy along with their family, many plans were going into effect. The Green Queen had stepped away from her duties to have her child. She had safely delivered a fine baby boy who looked a lot like his very handsome Father, Man-cell. They had all chosen the name for him. But his nickname stuck. His name was Tim-son, but was soon known as Bud, or sometimes Sprout.
The last things her Mother had assisted her with was helping her arrange her High Tea
and their first Official Formal Dinner and Ball. The High Tea
was held at the same time as Ash held a meeting with the other Kings/Rulers. The Queen Mother had taught Ivy that a bug in the wife’s ear went further than a good Beer! And even though it rhymed, it was true! Ivy had used her time to speak of their plans and to talk up the good points of the Justice Court.
By the time the men’s meeting broke-up, the ladies were sure they would all accept the idea. And, they had! In a little less than a week later, all those at the meeting had accepted and approved the Court idea.
The month after the meeting and tea, Ashland held its first Formal Dinner and Ball. It too, had been a huge success. It would likely be spoken of and in sung in ballads for years to come. All this had the Kingdom of Ashland in high standings among the other Kingdoms. In fact, the other Kingdoms act like it had been all their idea for the couple to wed, instead of kicking up the big fuss they all had.
With all the prosperity, rumors of strange things were still filtering in to both Kingdoms. Because Ivy was often between both Kingdoms, she often heard more than Ash did. But she made sure to share everything no matter how small with him. And today was no exception. While in the Green Kingdom, she had reports of mild droning noise that seems to be in the sky, but nothing can be seen. The reports came in from different points all around the Realm. Even the deep-dwelling Mere-folk sent concerns. Seems the low-frequency pitched noise is injuring sea-life. Ivy and Ash both hope the problem is resolved before too much damage is done below in the deeps.
Tonight, they had a Festival down in their new Village to attend. When word had gotten out of their acceptance of Mixed Species, they had couples lining up to live and work for them. Some were given jobs in the Castle and others open shops or had farms just outside the village. Tonight’s Festival was to celebrate their King and Queen. There was even talk of making this an annual Festival. Due to the fore-thought of the Green King and King Drax, the village had a very large center square for just such events. Ivy and Ash kicked off the Festival with a short speech each of welcome and thanks, then declared the Festival open. Ash and Ivy strolled around the square looking at booths and all the wares offered. They had just paused at a booth to listen to some Pipers when a little boy ran up to them. He smiled at Ivy, showing a missing front tooth and lisped For you Lady,
hands her a tiny scroll and vanished in the crowd. Puzzled, Ivy un-rolls it and squints in the poor torch light to read it. It contained only three words – Danger nears – BEWARE! This time, it had two small ds at the end. They left the Festival as soon as they felt it polite to leave.
Back at their Castle sitting in their suite, Ivy keeps looking at the note, reading it again and again. She feels she is missing a vital clue and it is just...right there. Suddenly she grabs Ash’s hand. Ash, Oh My Goddess, how could I have missed this ~ is it possible that Dray-Draxx is alive? Look at the end of this note. I over-looked it many times, lost in the words in the first part.
Taking up the note, Ash peers closely at it. Ivy, you may be on to something. This note doesn’t look like an old time-aged note. Not like the others we have read.
If he wasn’t so strong, I could do a summonsing spell and bring him here
Ivy told Ash. Now, Ash was lost in thought. He looked at Ivy and said,
Honey, I have an idea. What if you and the girls combine and try that spell. If we do it at the right time, we can catch him asleep and off guard. What do you think?
Ash, you do realize it will only work if he hasn’t warded himself against it and if he isn’t dead. She followed it with asking Ash what they would do with him if they Summoned him?
Ivy, I think if he knew he could again be at home here, wanted and secure, he might come home. And besides, if he is as powerful as they say, Honey, we may need him with us facing this new threat.
We need to think this over first Ash. Like tomorrow when we are fresh from a good night’s sleep.
He agrees.
Enjoying breakfast after a night of rest, the day is shaping up for them. They are making plans to visit the Glen. Ivy had taught Tink soon after taking up residence how to brew Coffee for her. And Tink was a Champ. It was always perfect coffee. The couple was finishing their cup’s as Soapy and Ty entered. After exchanging greetings, the Secretaries asked them if they were ready for their first appointments for the day? My Lady Ivy, you have a meeting with the Ladies of the Village to discuss a Village School.
And Ty reminds Ash that he has a meeting scheduled with both King Drax and the Green King. They are to discuss enlarging the Village. And after that meeting Sire, you have one with the Shop Guild’s Leader to discuss an application for a new business. Ash then said,
Alright, but cancel all appointments after the Guild, for both of us." Both Secretaries answer that is shall be as they request.
Before leaving to their meetings, Ivy asked Ash if he would need her help with anything? He tells her no but to finish her meeting as soon as she can and he will too. And they went off to work.
