Leah Purcell admits that, when it comes to her latest project, Foxtel Group Original mystery series High Country, which she not only stars in but executive produces, it hits a little closer to the bone than most – in the best way.

“There’s just some times we go, ‘Oh wow!’ You know? And I haven’t done that in a while, so it’s exciting,” she tells FOXTEL magazine. “So we just hope it’s embraced by Australia. And further.”

Purcell plays Detective Andrea ‘Andie’ Whitford in the eight-part series. A new transplant to small-town Brokenridge in the Victorian High Country, she relocates with her artist wife, Helen (Sara Wiseman, A Place to Call Home, watch On Demand), and their teen daughter, Kirra (Pez Warner), for safety following her involvement in a high-profile organised crime case.
