    TABLE OF CONTENTS

    INTRODUCTION

IAM A RETIRED public school teacher who is happily married to my husband, Lowell, and we have three wonderful children who also have three great spouses; Christy, her husband Brian Poston; Jeremy, his wife, Sarah; and Justin, and his wife Julie. In August of 1997 I began a journey of dramatically increased prayer time. My goal was to pray at least an hour in the Spirit in the early morning hours before my day began. I served as a teacher in another community in the public school system about twenty-six miles away. The motivation for this increased prayer time was the terrific concern I felt for Christy, Brian, and their little son, Hunter, who was not quite two years old that August. I knew that they needed tremendous help from heaven to accomplish what they had undertaken.

Christy had been accepted into the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center’s physical therapy program, which was for her a dream come true. Brian postponed his college degree to work while she went through the program. They were moving away from family and friends to the city where Brian found a job that involved working weekends and evenings. While discussing this with a neighbor, I voiced my concerns for them, including the fact that I couldn’t see how Christy could study, and how I could help with them a two and one-half hour drive away. My neighbor said, You’ll just have to keep her little boy on weekends. So that is exactly what we did! We met midway on Friday evening as early as we could to pick up Hunter, and we met again on Sunday evening to return him to his parents. My husband and I did this for nearly two and one-half years.

But that wasn’t all! Soon after Christy’s enrollment that fall, she discovered that she was pregnant again and when the new baby, Fischer, was four months old, we began taking both the boys for weekends so she could study. I can tell you now that the hour I spent praying and communing with God was so vital to my physical and spiritual health that we simply could not have done what we did without the help and strength that we received from our heavenly Father. On weekends, our sons, Jeremy and Justin, also helped when they were home.

After consistently praying each day in this manner for about a year, I began to receive wonderful words of encouragement, comfort, edification, and instruction by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Because they were so unusual, anointed, and in rhyme, I faithfully wrote them down. One
