Jessica Wilker awoke in a cold sweat. The pillow saturated, it clung to her neck as she sat up, hair sticking to her forehead, her chest rising and falling heavily. She felt cold and hot all at once. The room was black other than the orange glow of an outside streetlamp cutting in under the blinds. Slowly her breathing steadied. Jessica dabbed at her slick forehead with her tank top but even her shirt was wet. She pulled it off and flung it across the room in the direction of the hamper. The previous day felt like a dream. Had she really broken into high-profile military-contractor Amblin & Lester partner William Lester’s office, and stolen a secret signed contract between the company and Iranian arms dealers worth twenty billion dollars? She had. If the illegal sale went through it would result in the deaths of tens of thousands of people. Jessica now had the only proof of the deal sitting on her kitchen counter.
