A new coronavirus is spreading at an alarming rate around the world since the end of 2019. The World Health Organisation named the new virus COVID 19 and has declared a global pandemic.

The disease was first identified in the Chinese province of Hubei, where, in the early stages, most cases and deaths occurred. The numbers of suspected and confirmed coronavirus cases have risen sharply since then, first in China and Asia, then in Europe and the rest of the world. One of the characteristics of the virus is how quickly it spreads from person to person.

The new coronavirus has posed an unprecedented threat to the health of people around the world. Knowing the virus would certainly help us in its prevention. With our united efforts, coupled with scientific and medical support from experts and country-wide public participation, I am sure we will win in the end.

This book will provide basic information of the new coronavirus, its features and prevention. The information provided helps us in our personal prevention in the hope of lowering our risks of infection. This book also serves as a positive support to officials in educating the public.
