Coronavirus - Frank Everett

Introduction
In late 2019 a crisis like no other experienced in modern day history was unleashed on the masses. The crisis I’m referring to is known as Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). With most of the world completely oblivious to its existence at the time of its initial outbreak, people continued to live out their everyday lives without disruption.
That is of course unless you lived in Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei province. After Chinese authorities understood the scope and nature of the problem concurring that the virus had taken on a true epidemic status, lockdown was the natural result for the capital city of over 1 million people and the surrounding province.
The disease was first identified there in December 2019 but since then it has spread globally, resulting in an ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. At the time of writing the pandemic continues to wreak havoc across almost every nation in the world with very few signs of it letting up any time soon.
When it comes to the carnage this disease is capable of causing, common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. While other symptoms have been known to include fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhea, sore throat, loss of smell, and abdominal pain.
The time from exposure to onset of symptoms is typically around five days but may range from two to fourteen days. While most cases result in mild symptoms, some more dire cases often progress to viral pneumonia and multi-organ failure.
As of late April 2020, more than 2.4 million cases have been reported across 185 countries and territories and has resulted in more than 165,000 deaths. But on a brighter note, more than 625,000 people have recovered and the fact that these numbers are just estimations at best leaves room for additional hope as well.
In regard to the nature of the virus, it is primarily spread between people during close contact, often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. These droplets contaminate everything they come in touch with when breathing out.
People can easily become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. To make matters worse, the virus can survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Studies have shown that is most contagious during the first three days after the onset of symptoms, although spread may be possible before symptoms appear and in later stages of the disease.
The fact that Covid-19 is a real danger to humanity is undisputed. But beyond the implications of getting and surviving this new virus are the impending changes sure to come to society as a result of coping with this new reality.
We are living in an age of pandemics and Covid-19 is more likely than not just the tip of the iceberg.
New aspects of life like contact tracing, social distancing and digital vaccination certificate requirements are slowly materializing as government policy across the world.
Are we living in an age where pandemics and potential bio-warfare becomes the norm? Perhaps the answer is right in front of us as we try to cope with
