INTRODUCTION
Parables are used in most conditions to illustrate a particular lesson. They are approach towards learning moralities about the essence of life.
Chapter 1
The parable of a dishonest friend
Once; there was a man who was firmly attached to a certain woman in terms of friendship.
A loyal man he was and indeed a man of honesty and integrity. As her own kind of challenge; the woman lured him into trusting her by glittering her face with innocence and a marvelous smile decorating her face.
They both participated in the friendship but with different individual effort. Noticing how nice and humble the man is: she decided to confess "wow I've never met someone like you before, you so cool and down to earth.... in fact ...like.....i don’t know hey. She then decided to take advantage of the situation and started to make demands.
She could always ask favors from the guy like; can you please buy me this and that
, can you please lend me some money
and all what a woman could ever ask from a man.
The man could hardly say no to her demands, he was obedient enough to meet them all. It came to pass that one day the man was in need of a favor:
She asked the woman and said can you please meet me at the park so we can catch up I’m bored
she gladly accepted the offer and promised to meet him at the agreed time.
After waiting for so long, the man decided to make a call; she then answered shame a-skies i forgot, i was busy with something else and it just slipped my mind I’m sorry
the man answered worry not my dear; as long as you remain a teacher i will be a good student to you
not knowing what he meant, she smiled and said ncoooo... thank you.
Another day came; as they were working together, the man called Zihle! I’m without a lunchbox today can you please dish up for two
?
She said alright then no problem
Zinhle could not go to him during lunch on that day, she defended herself by saying her friends were all over her that she couldn't even had a space to breathe and promised to make it up to him as she asked for an apology.
The man looked at her with a soft smile and said "don’t worry about it, as long as you remain a teacher; i will be a good student to you and he left.
After a while they both agreed to meet at zinhle's place for a chill out the next day, the man waited on her call on that day till it was late.
He then decided to call her, likely she picked but sadly she wasn't available for the guy, she was booked for another chill out elsewhere.
She answered I’m sorry i couldn't be there for you but i will make it up to you i promise
The guy simple said "never worry yourself Zeee, remember; as long as you remain a teacher i will be a good student to you.
It then came to pass when the woman was in need again of the man's help for certain issues, but he was becoming distant as far as zinhle is concerned. It got her worried when she asked him to pay her a visit concerning a situation she was going through, but he was never available.
After sometime she asked him to meet with her to enquire about what transpired between them.
The man said "remember when i told you that as long as you remain a teacher i will be a good student to you?
she said i remember
he then said as my teacher; from you i learnt that I’m not your friend indeed, but I’m your friend only in need, as my teacher i learnt from you that friendship is about parasitism, you taught me that caring count for nothing in our friendship and you taught me how to use a friend to your own advantage; well then i must say i have passed all the modules you gave to me and all that is happening right now are the learning outcomes
and he left her speechless with a lot of regrets.
The moral of this parable is that;
