DEDICATION
To my children Jayden, Leyla, and Elijah, I love you to the moon and back. You remind me every day that it's all worth it and have been the driving force that pushes me. To grow alongside you on this journey has been a privilege and I pray that you always maintain your relationship with God for He is the only thing in this world that won't wither away.
CONTENTS
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Thank you to God for revealing me to myself and pushing me out of my comfort zone to share my story. Even if it helps just one person, my job is done. To my children, you helped me stay motivated to complete this assignment. To my Mom, I love you and thank you for always being an anchor no matter the waves pushing against us. To my friends that I confide in, I can't begin to thank you enough. I have such an amazing circle of influence, and I give all praises to God that he allowed this to come full circle. Don't let this world dull your shine. Be a light.
FOREWORD
––––––––
This book was written for the women that have faced setbacks but are resilient and still push through. You may also be someone that allowed the love of money to rule your life at one point. Possibly have been to jail and dealing with the never-ending repercussions of being stuck in the joke of a justice system. Have a felony. You may be that girl from a small town that has been through so much and feels alone because you have shamed your family. For so long, I held in my story for fear of the critics. But truth be told, we have all made mistakes. Some people just don’t get caught. Rather, you stayed in a bad relationship past its expiration, neglected your own self-worth or broke the law and did the time.
It’s during those moments that you have the choice rather to sink or swim. Are you going to drown in your mistakes or learn and boss up? Aren’t you tired of letting life have its way with you? You were created in the image of God and the light within you is meant to shine brightly. You deserve to be genuinely happy, but hindsight is always 20/20. Now with clarity, I felt the need to share my story with you. We are all working on our own personal development simultaneously, just at different stages of life. To the single mothers that have fallen into being a statistic and are constantly multitasking to hold everything together alone. Forced to get on government assistance to survive. Working full-time, staying up late and missing outings with friends. Hustling month to month against time to provide. The ones that have seemed to lose their shine, but know they have a bigger purpose in life. Know that your story is a part of a much bigger plan, so don’t mute it out.
To the women that underestimate their own value. You may have settled for a toxic relationship and stayed longer than you should have. You may have had your love taken advantage of and verbally or physically abused. You are never alone in your feelings and thoughts. These were the life-changing events that took place in my life. As my mother is gaining her life back and becoming cancer free, testimonies were the fuel for my own encouragement. I encounter women on a regular basis, who are facing the same situations I was once involved in, getting inspired to know firmly that if I can get through it, so can you. You have a purpose and an assignment on your life. Through all of your proudest moments and even the disappointing ones, each segment of your life serves the bigger picture. Embrace the feelings and receive the lesson that they present to be used for the higher good. I went through all of these events in my journey as a result of the choices I made. I can now appreciate and see that it’s in these moments of life-changing experiences that my life changed. The direction of your path after the lesson is received is left to you.

Fresh off of work and Jayden is finally asleep after our usual after-work trip to the park. Waitressing wasn’t the best job. Standing on my feet all day, taking orders from people and carrying multiple plates wasn't my ideal place to work, but after leaving corporate America to focus on my schooling, it paid the bills and allowed me to be flexible until my graduation. Just a few months ago, life was much different. Cooper Creek Park was peaceful. The playground sat right next to a lake that was always surrounded by families
