Magic School of Kotolaz Cat Book Three. Fall Adventures - Oleg Vitkovski
The Biggest Organism
Fall came. School started . Den had been waiting for this patiently. The boy was aware that with every autumn he became a year older. He wanted to catch up with Ivan and become exactly as big as his older brother. But for some reason, Ivan was impossible to catch up with. Den tried everything, but Ivan remained older than him. This was so unfair; Den could never get over it. Usually, kids are always in a hurry to grow up. Oh, if only they knew that very soon there will come a time, when they will be very grown up, but they will dream to be careless kids once again. But will Den be able to understand that being a child is amazing? He doesn’t remember what it’s like to be a grown up, from his past lives. This is how everything is.
It was still warm on the streets, but the trees had already started to change color. As Ivan noticed, the trees were the color of Muladkhara, Svadkhistana and Manipura- red, orange and yellow. Of course, the boy already knew that chakras have no colors but he wanted to find similarities
so much, that sometimes he still forgot about this.
Even though Dad was a very mediocre mushroom picker, he offered everyone to go to the woods in the village for the weekend. There was only one problem – Dad usually picked every sort of mushroom, one after another and Mom then had to sort out which ones were safe to eat. Usually, from the whole basket there were only 4-5 good mushrooms left. So, we already knew that Dad was better at talking about mushrooms than picking them. Despite this, the whole family was supportive of him. Everyone wanted to witness the beauty of the fall forest.
The engine roared and the car started to move out of the city. The kids missed their friend - philosopher Kotolaz. This was a perfect chance to meet each other! Probably the cat had learned something new and would share it with the boys.
A picture containing toy, doll, child Description automatically generatedThe street was empty, and the car was going fast towards Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house. Grandpa was doing everything to get ready for winter and was busy with some kind of framework for the beehives. He always tried to make the bees feel comfortable in their hives during cold weather and for them to have something to eat, all the way to till next spring, when new flowers will start to grow, and insects will start to gather fresh nectar. The beehives were located in the apiary in a nearby village. Grandpa kept them there, because of the enormous field with flowers close by. This way it was easier for the bees to collect nectar and bring it to their little house. But, for the winter, Grandpa took the beehives back home and made them warmer.
Grandma packed the dried fruit, which she had been drying throughout the whole summer for her relatives. She didn’t like preparing all kinds of sweet jams with sugar, because she knew that sugar was bad for the kids. Instead of this, grandma had laid out some fruit in the sun, where they dried. They always turned out very fragrant and yummy. The kids loved taking Grandma’s dried fruit to school, instead of taking some unhealthy candy, which made the parents very happy.
Grandma and Grandpa usually move to their city house during winter, because it’s much more fun there. When winter comes, it seems as though the whole village falls into deep winter sleep. The city is completely different. In the city, everything always thrives somewhere, it always moves. The city never sleeps. The neighbor, Uncle Tom, who always lives in the village, looked after their house in the village for the whole winter. Now Uncle Tom had a little helper - Kotolaz.
The boys couldn’t wait to see Kotolaz, therefore their conversation with Grandma and Grandpa was brief. This is how it is for kids, it’s much more interesting for them to play with their peers and animals than answer Grandma’s questions and receive a load of kisses. Ivan and Den warned Mom and Dad that they would go to collect mushrooms with the whiskers, so that they wouldn’t wait for them. They knew that it’s impossible to catch the cat at home during the day and that most probably he’s sitting on the roof of shed, or walking in the woods, talking to animals.
The cat wasn’t on the shed. The boys ran quickly to the woods and called for the cat:
- Kotol-a-az! Ko-o-to-o-la-az!
No one answered.
The boys stopped under a big oak tree, to decide what to do and where to find the cat. Suddenly, a cone fell on Ivan’s head. The boys looked up but there was no one there. Then the cone fell on Den and there was no one, again. A little acorn hit Ivan’s nose. Immediately the same thing clicked against Den’s forehead.
Ivan noticed a familiar tail, which ducked into a squirrel hollow.
Oh, you prankster with whiskers
said Ivan Den, look, there’s the cat!
The cat quietly stuck its face out of the hollow and immediately got hit by a cone by Den.
Aha! Gotcha!
the boys shouted. The cat understood that he got caught. Ivan was already climbing up the tree to reach Kotolaz. In an instance, Ivan’s hand was already pulling out the resisting cat.
I give up! I give up!
cried out the cat and laughed I’m so glad to see you!
The cat and Ivan climbed down the tree. Out of happiness, Den squished the cat so hard that his eyes rolled back. Kotolaz begged him:
Ouch, Ivan, be more careful! I’m a cat, not an elephant! I’m small. You will squish me with your Anakhata!
Everyone was very glad to meet.
The cat asked:
How did you end up here?
Dad offered to pick some mushrooms and take a walk in the woods
Ivan answered.
I don’t like mushrooms, but walking in the woods, on the other hand, is very nice
the cat said, then what are we waiting for? Let’s go! You can also tell me, what’s new and has been happening in your lives.
The boys remembered them jogging in summer and they decided to repeat it, as usual with the cat.
The forest looked different, compared to summer. It didn’t look better, nor worse. The
