Magic School of Kotolaz Cat Book Two. Winter in the City - Oleg Vitkovski

    The first snow

After a magnificent green summer and a golden fall, sooner or later comes the first snowfall. This day coincided with an amazing event, when early in the morning the cat went up to grandpa’s calendar hanging on the wall and tore off yesterday’s sheet of paper, where it was written December 11th.

Kotolaz was very fond of all kinds of similarities, puzzles, clues from nature and just coincidences in life, even though deep in his heart he understood that there is no such thing as coincidences. Everything happens for a reason. He was delighted, when on the piece of paper labeled December 12th he discovered a funny face of a cat and a note written in pencil: Good morning, Kotolaz! We are waiting for you in the city, at the station, at 12 o’clock noon. Ivan and Den.

The cat burst into laughter. He liked the kids’ trick. What wonderful students I have. How creative it is to arrange a new meeting on the 12th day, of the 12th month at 12 o’clock, noon. The boys are learning fast. They are starting to remember themselves and come up with lots of different stuff, Kotolaz thought.

The cat, having collected a gift for the kids (a basket of dried apples from a kind, kind grandmother, who lived across the street) went to the railway station. Quickly hopping on a train, he had no problem getting to the city. It was not a long ride.

Kotolaz arrived just as the boys came to the platform. The kids noticed the cat, who was looking out of the train window and shouted with enthusiasm:

    Kotolaz is here! Y-a-a-y!

The people passing by, confused, shrugged their shoulders, not understanding what the boys were so happy about. Possibly a very important guest had just arrived by train. If these strangers knew that the boys were greeting a cat with such excitement, they would be very surprised. The train door had barely opened as the cat jumped into Ivan’s hands, then jumped over to Den, almost turning over the basket of apples and said:  Well, you guys are quite the inventors! What if instead of me, grandma or grandpa had turned that page on the calendar? I wouldn’t have known the time and we wouldn’t have been able to meet!

But Kotolaz, we are future Mages. We knew for sure that every morning you tear off a page of the calendar. We also knew that you wouldn’t have enough time to come to us until 12 o’clock. We even checked the train schedule in advance. Everything should have worked out - and it did. After all, you promised to come on New Year’s, and magical cats can’t just make empty promises, right? Ivan wondered.

Well done, Ivan! The word of a Mage is his weapon and he doesn’t just swing his weapon around without a purpose Kotolaz praised Ivan. The word of a Mage is stronger than a tank.

Kotolaz, you know, I’m already a first grader! Den blurted out. He had waited to tell Kotolaz this news for so long!

Congratulations, my dear friend! the puss reacted enthusiastically.

So, how does it feel to be a schoolboy?

You know, life used to be much easier in kindergarten Den answered with nostalgia. But here you have to sit at desks, listen to teachers and constantly learn something. Sometimes you just want to run around more than you want to sit.

You grew up, Den, and you are starting to have duties and responsibilities. The older you get the more responsibilities you have the cat explained.

Ivan, let's show Kotolaz the city Den offered.

The boys and the cat jumped on the city bus and started their journey. It did not matter to them where they were going. This often happens, when you have true, loyal friends beside you. Especially when you have known them for more than one of your lives. The cat thought to himself.

The fellows rode the bus, made jokes, remembered the summer in the village and chewed on the dried apples from the kind, kind grandma who lived across the street. They were happy that they all helped her get rid of egregors and she started remembering herself and changing. The cat told them how for the whole autumn he had been helping her tune the chakras, and how funny it was when the grandma finally felt them a short while ago and how amusing these feelings were for her.

The cat had been in many cities before, but it was a long time ago in his past lives. It was his first time coming to the city in this life.

Kotolaz, which is better the city or the village? Den asked.

    The puss thought and answered:

There is no answer to your question. I think the village is good, with its quietness and solitude, but the city is beautiful with its noise and fast-paced life.

What is good in noise? Ivan was surprised.

Noise and a fast-paced life are good because it's hard to live and improve in these conditions. You will find many egregors and only strong people can handle this the cat answered.

Kotolaz pondered and gave another example of a similarity:

Look, when you do gymnastics in the morning, for example, stretching your arms to the sides, how many times can you do this exercise?

I can do it a hundred times, Den blurted out.

And if you take weights, the same weight as this basket of apples, how many times can you lift your hands? the cat asked slyly.

Oh my, but it's heavy! I would be able to do it only five times. Den answered.

    The cat smiled and added:

The city is the equivalent of working out with weights for every person, even for Mages.  If you can meditate not only in a quiet village but in a city where it's noisy and everything is distracting, then you will be a super expert.
