A WORD BEFORE
Asymmetry comes from the 14th Century Greek word meaning, ‘lacking proportion’.
In layman’s terms it means, ‘being a bit off’. Something’s not quite right.
Maybe you’ve felt this way?
Probably because you are a bit off. Not right. Lacking. But don’t be fooled.
Every human being is born with the gift of asymmetry. You may have spent your life up to this point interpreting your asymmetry as a weakness, limitation or deficit.
You would be wrong. Dead wrong.
The truth is your asymmetry reveals your inner genius. What you lack highlights what you have to offer the world.
Somewhere along the way someone told you to focus your time and attention fixing the very thing that makes you uniquely you.
They told you a lie.
While you should definitely figure out what you’re missing, you shouldn’t waste too much time obsessing over your your imperfections.
Embrace them. Seriously. The sooner you do, the sooner you’ll be able to move onto more important things.
Like discovering why you’re here, what you have to offer, and how you can use the precious time you’ve been given on this spinning ball of dirt for something bigger than little ole you.
Let me be clear: you should definitely acknowledge what you’re not.
But if you’re serious about making a real difference in the world then you need to invest in getting to know yourself.
Like now.
Which brings me to the second word in the title of this book: leader.
Maybe you’re an Alpha and you’ve got everything figured out. You are in total control. This book isn’t for you.
But maybe, just maybe, you’ve been reluctantly hiding out in the shadows. Limited by your own view of yourself. Never feeling quite good enough.
Waiting for others to step up and stand out.
If that’s you, then you’re holding the right book in your hands.
Here’s a little secret you should know about leadership: everyone’s a leader. The question is not whether you’re a leader or not.
Nope.
The question is what kind of leader are you? Which we’ll tackle in the first part of the book.
But, let me make something else crystal clear for you … the first person you lead is you. Yep. You’ll never have anyone following you if you can’t lead yourself first.
True story.
I’ve discovered that asking the right questions beats having the right answers nine times out of ten. So here are five questions to help you begin to see your asymmetry as a gift:
Why Are You Here?
What Is Your Story?
Who Do You Need?
What Is At Stake?
How Can You Help?
By answering these five simple questions, you’ll be well on your way towards leading yourself and making the world a bit better.
Here’s to being a bit off …

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
WHY ARE YOU HERE?
Chapter One –
You
If you want to make your greatest contribution in life, you have to live soulfully.
The human soul.
The ancients called the soul ‘the seat of emotions’.
The 20th Century ushered in a discipline of ‘soul study’, a psychology giving insight into the ego and the unconscious self.
Your soul is the truest and deepest part of who you are. It’s your core. The full embodiment of your personality.
In short, it’s what makes you, you.
There’s a reason you are moved in what the Irish
