Reviews for Surviving the Nazi Onslaught

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is a repint of the book entitled 'Weekend Trippers', published privately by the author in 2008. It is the biography of Private Ted TAYLOR, who is a member of the author's family. He served with 1 Bn. The RIfle Brigade at Calais in May 1940, being taken prisoner at the end of the battle. The battle is covered well, with the rest of the book describing his period in captivity in Germany and Poland. The account of TAYLOR's capativity is harrowing, with the uncertainty and fight for daily survival being well recorded. It will challenge some views of the nature of captvity for prisoners of war. I have a particular interest in the Battle for Calais, so accept that this book was likely to appeal to me, but I recommend it to a wider audience for its narrative and interest.
