Trekka sistership triggers memories

Last month’s Letters took be back over 40 years in an instant. In the mid / late 1970s, as a teenager I sailed at Ullswater YC. I recall a beautiful home-built there, built by the brother of one of the regulars at the club and brought to Ullswater from their home in the North East of England. She was sloop rigged and, as I recall, cold moulded. Definitely highly varnished and finished to a very high standard. As there were not many s built, and given the coincidence of location, it could be that is that same . As a new wooden boat, the was unusual for the time, when GRP boats dominated. There was a very active Hunter 19/Hunter Europa racing fleet which was taking inspiration from the exploits of Willing Griffin. There was also a were certainly inspiring to a generation of sailors in the 1960s.
