About this ebook

Cascading through your mind might be the conventional lust-cum romance book you are probably used to. You will be caught wild in the ecstasy of promiscuity, hypnotizing you page by page into scenes of two gorgeous ladies thrown in between love for each other and hate. While marauding through differences in backgrounds, characters, lust, and affections, they made a competition of a dark and handsome 6'3ft guy. While one is in for the kill, the other seems to be in love. John Marcus Brown is at it again with a mind-blowing thriller. If you are less imaginative and savaged, this book is about to flip you over to the other side as every page is suspense-filled and laced with sweetened honey. You can almost feel sour from the sweetness of every scene. Have a taste!

In Your Mind's Eyes - John Marcus Brown

    Chapter 1

    Mercedes Alvarez

In the Spring of 2014 , Megan started the last semester of community college in her hometown in North Mississippi. She was excited to finish up her last classes so she could acquire her Associate’s Degree to move on to the next chapter of her life. The plan after she finished was to move to Houston, Texas, to start another program at a university to work on her Bachelor’s Degree. She had the support of her parents along with her sister, Angie (who was in high school during this time). Megan also has a cousin who lives in Houston that she’s already made living arrangements with. Things were on the up and up for her.

Megan graduated in May 2014, and she received her degree, and her family was there to support her. Hugs, smiles, pictures—priceless moments. She’s set to move to Texas in July, so she’ll use the rest of her time to make preparations for her move. Megan also celebrates her 21st birthday at the end of May, so her family combined her birthday and graduation celebration for the same time. However, she’s waiting for the real turn-up once she gets to H-town.

Once July gets here, her parents help her get everything loaded up for the trip to help her move out to Texas. Her dad rented a U-Haul trailer to bring along with his truck. Megan loads everything she can into her car, and her dad puts the rest in the trailer. Once everything is loaded, Angie hops in the car to ride with Megan and their parents trail them in the truck. They hit the road on a Friday morning. H-town bound.

Megan and Angie’s cousin, Zayn Davis, is a nurse in Houston. This is one of the main reasons why Megan chose to come to Texas because Zayn has been in Texas for 6 years. Zayn’s family moved from Mississippi to Texas at the beginning of 2008. Megan and Angie were close to Zayn in their childhood. Even after she left, Zayn kept in contact with her cousins.

Zayn graduated from nursing school in Spring 2013, and after she passed her Boards, she walked straight into a career. A 23 year-old making good money. Single, good-looking, no kids, stable occupation—Zayn had it going on. So she was excited to hear that Megan wanted to move to Texas. In 2014, Zayn lived downtown in the heart of Houston. Beautiful 2-bedroom apartment, big city, and her cousin is coming to move in with her—2014’s bout to be lit.

Once they make it to Houston and get her moved in, it’s like a family reunion (Mrs. Smith—Angie and Megan’s mom—is Zayn’s aunt). Megan’s parents booked a hotel for 2 nights so they can enjoy the city for the weekend. Angie stays with Megan and Zayn at the apartment. Zayn’s parents live on a different side of town, so they plan to go visit with them as well. The family enjoys spending time together over the weekend.

When Sunday arrives, it’s time for the Smiths to head back to Mississippi. They go to Zayn’s place to say goodbye to Megan and also to pick Angie up. It’s a bittersweet moment, of course (goodbyes can be tough), but they all know it’s just part of the process. They get their last hugs in, and they all wish Megan well in her new endeavors.

After they leave, it’s time for the turn-up. Megan is in a completely new, foreign place with limitless opportunities. She’s been reunited with her cousin who she hasn’t seen in a long time, so she has every reason to be excited. It being July, she has a month until the fall semester kicks off. She has student orientation at the university this week, so she’s looking forward to this new beginning. Zayn gives Megan her full support. She doesn’t want Megan to worry about anything including rent, splitting bills, or anything of that nature—she’s just glad Megan is here with her.

On Wednesday, Megan heads to campus for her orientation. One thing she realized very quickly—Houston’s traffic is a bitch. She got jammed up with the quickness. What she thought would be a 20-minute commute, turned into an hour commute—that’s that bullshit. People are driving like lunatics, idiots are staring down at their phones while driving, and assholes are changing lanes without warning. Fast-paced lifestyle. Megan yelled her fair share of cuss words during her commute.

Once she finally makes it to campus, she has to navigate her way to the location of the orientation. Fortunately, she left home well ahead of time, so the delayed commute didn’t make her late. When she gets to the location, she checks-in, and she’s ready to get acquainted with the new scenery. Orientation is always a great opportunity to network with new people and get information from people who have experience in the campus community. Megan is loving what she’s seeing so far. The people are friendly, the campus is beautiful, and the overall atmosphere is good.

After she finishes everything up, she just casually strolls through campus taking in the scenery before she leaves. There’s one section of the campus where there are all kinds of extravagant artwork on display. It’s definitely a spot that a person has to stop to take in the scenery. While she’s there marveling at the art, she hears someone say, "Oooh, I love your hair."

When Megan turns around, she sees a gorgeous girl with a pleasant smile on her face. Megan immediately blushes back and says, Aww, thank you. That’s really nice of you. The girl smiles as she goes for a handshake to introduce herself:

    Hi, I’m Mercedes.

Hey, I’m Megan. Nice to meet you.

    "Nice to meet you too..."

So, are you from around here?

I’m originally from Dallas, but my parents moved here when I was young, so I usually just claim Houston as my hometown.

    "Oh, that’s what’s up. I’m new here—I’m from Mississippi."

Really? Welcome to Houston! You know anyone here?

Thanks! My cousin, aunt, and uncle are here. I actually live with my cousin. Other than that, I don’t know anyone...

"That’s good. Well, I commend you for taking the step out here. This place can be very overwhelming for newcomers. I do know a lotta people here, so if you ever need anything, I can get you connected. Just lemme know."

Well, I really appreciate that. Actually, lemme get your number so we can stay in touch.

    Sure!

They exchange numbers, and they chat for a few more minutes. Mercedes closes with, Well, I gotta run. It was great meeting you! Let’s get together soon. And like that, Megan had made her first friend in Houston. It happened so quick. Megan really can’t put her finger on it, but it just seemed like Mercedes gave her good vibes.
